Turns out the manatees are still here. I saw them a week ago, but it looks like they will hang out for a bit before heading back south. I'm still waiting on photos from friends that were with me, but here is an article with photos from our local newspaper.

There was a manatee question when I was on Jeopardy!. I answered it correctly.

Manatees are cool....for several years we went down to the Florida Keys for sport lobster season...the house rented was on a small lagoon which the manatees loved. They are very docile critters, curious and deceptively powerful when you are in the water with them.

I have heard that mermaid myths are actualled based on manatees...which begs the questions - just how long do you have to be at sea and how many yo ho hos on the bottle of rum does it take before a manatee looks anything like a woman?

Being in Florida...and being somewhat familiar with manatees I also know that they are quite...uh....to be delicate.....'gaseous'....hopefully that is not the quality that reminds you of your teacher.

Surely the teacher was a he, because a she just wouldn't do something like that whether on land or at sea! :)) :)) :))

I got photos today of friends petting them, but I'm tired and too lazy to post them now. SO use your imaginations. :-s

Thank god I never had the occasion to find that out. And "it" was a "she."

Were you as successful as 7 time winner Tom Walsh? He was the first "more than 5 time winner" when they changed the rules. He preceded Ken Jennings.

Lost by three bucks. Would have won against about 19 of 20 other sets of opponents. Even the Jeopardy! people were like, "Damn, dude. That sucks."

Jen said they came by the marina today. They were all reluctant to answer questions...being a protected species, the feds really could play havock with their business if they chose to. (IE no boating rules)
