I played WoW for about 6 months 3 1/2 years ago. It is definitely addicting :) :? Luckily I managed to stop.

About 7 years ago, we were visiting my family in North Carolina. My brother, a pediatrician, was sitting beside my son, and my brother told me, "Your son has myoclonic jerks in his arms." I think you need to take him in for a check-up.

So, when I got back to California, I took my kid to the pediatrician. Fearing something serious might be happening to my kid, he immediately sent my son to see a neurologist, who ordered all kinds of tests. Finally, the neurologist asked my son, "Do you play video games?"

"Yes."

"How much time do you spend playing video games?"

"Four or five hours a day." (Actually, it was probably more than that.)

"Mom, I think we need to limit the video games," the doctor advised. Apparently, there is a correlation between video game playing and myoclonic jerks.

When we curbed the video game time, the involuntary spasms subsided.

Anyway, to get back on topic, I'm thinking that my kid, who played WoW nonstop for YEARS until he met a real girl last month, might be a prime candidate for this place. Pray that things with the girl work out. She keeps him distracted from the video and computer games.

If this article is about WoW, I ain't reading it. As far as I'm concerned that fucking game super sucks, because it has taken my wife and kids away. They are all addicted to it. I used to be into online golf heavily, and it contributed to my first marriage going in the dumper (seriously, and it was my fault, but I didn't recognize it). Now I'm on the opposite end of the stick, watching instead of participating. It's painful to see the number of hours a day that can be spent escaped in a game instead of enjoying the reality of a family.

I definitely agree. I played Star Wars Galaxies (MMORPG) for about 2 1/2 years prior to WoW, I feel pretty lucky that I stopped when I did. Knowing that High School was going to be different, and that I wouldn't have hours to waste on that game helped me. I still play video games regularly, but not enough to interfere with my social life or my girlfriend. I actually started dating the girl I am still dating now at camp, about 3 weeks after I stopped playing...

Sometimes my friend tries to get me to play it (SWG, not WoW) again, and sometimes I'm extremely tempted to, but luckily I've been able to stop myself so far. I never realized how much of an addiction it actually was.

Somehow most of my friends/acquaintances never found out that I played those games, and they still don't know.

I found the community aspect of those games extremely intriguing and entertaining. Real life is better though. :)

I entirely agree! Life is too short and the computer can rob all of us of valuable time spent with our loved ones without balance. The computer, email, the internet, these games, these boards, etc. all need the right amount of balance and I will admit, I am clbunchofnumbers and am a recovering computerholic. :ymblushing: :-o I've not gotten hooked on WoW, or other things like some others, but email, the crackberry, etc. could be considered a stiff competitor. Balance is tough sometimes when one is craving their addiction of choice, but for me, it is very hard to be away from CTN as an example for more than a few hours let alone days because I miss the exchanges with my real and virtual friends, but sometimes the reality right in front of me has to be or I choose to make it my priority. It gets easier, but it doesn't mean I love any of all y'all any less, I just have to tend to the bidness in front of me. I've seen situations where people can be in the same room and totally be soo into whatever they are into, they are in a zone that makes them totally oblivious to anything around them even when others are talking to them. One of the reasons I love going to my getaway at the river (but haven't got to do it too much this year) is that there is very limited cell service and no internet connectivity available that I've found which kind of makes me go into initial withdrawals and I have to go out on the boat to get cell service so it is kind of hard to stomach at first, but you do get used to it and it lets me, at least, settle down to the old country ways that I grew up with and getting back in touch with nature and so on without being tied to work 24x7. As much as I love my work, I too need a break (as we all do) and time to turn the wheels off which is tough at times. :ympray: :ympray: :ympray: :ympray: May the force be with US all!!!!! @};-

I've always respected you, but now even more so. That's awesome. If there is only room for two on his boat Cathy, you're staying on shore while I go fishing with your man.

I've never been to his place at the river. Uh, there's no internet there. B-)

If there are no cell towers that makes it even that much better.

OH NOooo, I was afraid of that response :(( I will tell you that it really isn't that bad!!!! I can't wait to take you there!!! and rest assured there is plenty of room in the 21' grady white and the 14' V bottom with two motors for more than just two of us, thus my girl will not be staying on the shore!!!!

Wilson is correct! All I was saying is that I haven't pulled out my laptop, netstumbler and other wireless tools/gadgets to find any wifi signals broadcasting! Cell service can be received at the house if it is non-T-Mobile such as Verizon, but I happen to have T-Mobile and it's an international plan, works any where in the world except Korea and Montross, VA at the river house! :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

I haven't played the online version of WoW. I have however spent time on line doing other activites. What they could be I don't know? =; :-@

I know how addicted I got to Diablo online back when I was at Duke. Then it was Warlords Battlecry II and Diablo II. I am convinced that Diablo online cost me at least two or three tenths on my GPA. Now I try to avoid games like WoW and Diablo online. It's one thing to play the occasional Mario Kart Wii race online. It's a totally different animal to spend your whole day playing one of these games. My record on Diablo was 65 hours straight, over a long holiday weekend when I should have been cramming for an exam at Duke.

I thought of you all when I was at the beach. I logged in for 30 seconds to check my mail too. Past that, I was in vacation mode. I love ya, and I love goofin around but sometimes I just gotta take a break.

See ya later, I'm off to play some WoW now.
