Foods I don't understand

There are some foods that make no sense to me.

For example, sunflower seeds are weird. You have to open them up to get a tiny little kernel. WHY so much work and dental damage just to get such a small payoff? Pumpkin seeds are not far behind.

Gelatinous canned corned beef... HUH?

Pickled eggs??

Who came up with this stuff?

Now I got you thinking, I have always wondered the same thing!!!!

You are supposed to bake/roast them, not try and open them up!!!!

Is this like potted meat? Can't say I've had canned corned beef, but maybe MOM slipped it in many years ago and said it's spam while Dad chimes in and says "EAT IT BOY or I'll BEAT YOUR ARSSSSS, ... ummm, yes SIR!!!!"

Not sure about the pickled eggs but I always wondered why they have to be purple? Are we talking about the same thing here? I think boiled lasts longer! :-? :-? :-? :-?

I love sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. We always roast up some pumpkin seeds after doing our jack-o-lanterns. I'm probably the only person that eats them though.

Yes, we are talking about the same thing. They're either purple or pink.

And WHY do we still have TAB? Isn't there Diet Coke and Coke Zero?

Jackfruit... if any of you have tried it and liked it, please explain to me WHY? Check this out:
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-jackfruit.htm
"Jackfruit tends to be an acquired taste and frequently does not appeal to those unfamiliar with it. The ripening jackfruit has an odor which has been compared to the smell of rotting onions."
:-o

If any of you like durian, please explain it to me:

You can have it. Seriously. "Good meatloaf" is just not ever going to appeal to me. Please just hold out my meat and I'll make a burger instead.

I just saw on the Food Network a recipe for deep-fried brussels sprouts.

"Brussell sprouts" is simply a common spelling error, probably pushed on folks by lazy supermarket produce clerks. ;)

I tried it with one "l" and spell check didn't like it, so I left it with two.

They still suck with one or two "l's." :p

I don't care how you spell them....brussels sprouts brussell sprouts....brussell's sprouts...they are nasty little things. I can not even get the little slimy cabbagie lumps past my nose. There is not enough butter in the free world to make them edible.

Blech. Just Blech. :ymsick: :ymsick: :ymsick: :ymsick: :ymsick: :ymsick:
