Ripping software

I need to copy a DVD onto my computer and onto a memory stick to put it onto my netbook, which doesn't have a DVD drive. It's a business video and I want to show it to customers. I've been told I need to rip it, not just copy the files. What's everyone recommend for a free software to do this? Doesn't need to be fancy, and I'm not going to do any editing. I just want to copy (rip and then burn?) the damn thing!

is it copyrighted? hmm, ripping it sounds like you either need to get rid of the memory stick in the middle or just make a bootable image project using something like Roxio, Nero, etc... try this...

If it doesn't work, bring with you when you come to Greenville and we'll figure it out!

Have you moved to Greenville?
The video is not copywrited. I tried to use Colchar's recommendation but it wasn't intuitively clear - it seemed to rip the movie over and over again. I stopped it on the 4th time. This shouldn't be that hard to do. And I don't want to hear from the Apple crowd, either! I just want to get the fucking movie onto my netbook computer! (DD, is that used in context enough for you?
)

Hmmm, I never had any problem with it when I used it. Maybe you just didn't choose the correct settings or something?

What you might mean is... I don't want to hear from the Apple crowd promoting Apple products. Because the Apple crowd just might be able to help you. ;-)

Ozzie, have you ever used TeamViewer? It's an application that allows someone to control your computer remotely. Perhaps one of us could watch you try to run the software and point out any problems, or walk you through the correct steps. PM me if you need help. Dinner and drinks with Kelly, then I'll be online later tonight. If the problem is more urgent, gimme a call on my cell.

Ozzie, try using Magic DVD Ripper (there is also Magic DVD Copier which is quite good for copying discs). You get five free uses before you have to register the product. You can download it here:
http://www.magicdvdripper.com/
ETA: If you use this and like it pop me a PM because I have an extra registration code that you can use for it.

Dude, it's cool. I'm quite happy to be skilled on Mac OS, Windows, Linux-flavor-of-the-month. I also never minded spending the extra coin. Every single one of my Macs are, or can be, fully operational and useful; which is more than I can say for their cheaper PC counterparts.
