Congratulations to...
...my youngest daughter who found out about 6 PM tonight that she will be on the Blue Squad for the Duke cheerleaders for the 2009-10 season.
This is a very bright ray of hope and sunshine in our family life as most of you know from my "...anti-good..." thread that this year has basically sucked for our family. She was awarded the 12th and final spot on the Blue Squad despite the fact she is not allowed to run or tumble due to the fact she still has 2 pins in her foot from her March surgery and is scheduled to have them removed in 9 days. The coach could have easily written her off for this year but changed the try-outs so the ladies did not have to perform any impact activities. They are going through 3 days of camp/try-outs now and we did not expect an answer until the end of the week, and, of course, expected the worst. So...

Great news!!! You must be really proud and excited to be able to watch her support the Blue Devils. I hope also that she realizes now what a special experience that is/will be, and what fond memories she's in the midst of making.

That's great news! I remember reading about this and had actually wondered a couple of days ago how that was going. So glad it worked out.devildeac wrote:...my youngest daughter who found out about 6 PM tonight that she will be on the Blue Squad for the Duke cheerleaders for the 2009-10 season.

She is having surgery to remove 2 pins from her foot on 8/27 so I imagine she will be dressed and on the sidelined cheering and perhaps dancing but no tumbling for a couple more weeks.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Will she be in action for football game #1?

She was on the White Squad last year and subbed a couple times on the Blue Squad so she is WELL aware of the honor, commitment and experiences she will have. Thanks.wilson wrote:Great news!!! I believe the whole Blue Squad travels with the FB team so we anticipate her being in Kansas on 9/19. I will have her look for you and/or give you a call. Thanks.DukieInKansas wrote:Congratulations! I'll keep an eye out for her on TV.
