Basketball Recruiting
Since we're a basketball school once again, let's kick off Monday with some good news.
Welcome to Duke, Cooper! Scheyer now has the #1 class of '24.

Re: Basketball Recruiting
And, he may not be finished yet as PG Dylan Harper (#2 in class) and C Patrick Ngongba (#20ish) also have Duke in their final 3 choices with Ngongba planning to announce 11/4. He's from the same HS as Roach and Keels (remember him? ) and Harris, I think, another 2024 commit.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑October 30th, 2023, 8:56 amSince we're a basketball school once again, let's kick off Monday with some good news.

Loving the thought of local Charlotte Carolina fans with scrunched faces.

Re: Basketball Recruiting
Duke also signed 5 star Kon Knueppel from Wisconsin. Welcome to warmer weather!
(He committed back in September, but signed today before he got frost bite.)

Re: Basketball Recruiting
Khaman Maluach to Duke for 2024. Unranked as of now because uncspn doesn't rank international guys unless they've committed. Several folks think he'll be #3 behind Flagg and Ace Bailey when updated rankings are released.
I see lawgrad beat me to it. Well done!!

Re: Basketball Recruiting
Helluva quote!"Duke is home, that's where I belong." Maluach said. "This was the hardest decision I've ever made. I felt like I could succeed anywhere, but I was most comfortable going to Duke. All the schools that were recruiting me are big-time programs, but in terms of my development and the relationships I built with the coaches, they were the best."

Re: Basketball Recruiting
Cameron Sheffield, a 6'6" guard from Rice, is coming as a grad transfer with two years eligibility.
He sat out last year with a foot injury (Imagine! A Duke player with a foot issue!). Two years ago he averaged 7.6 points, 6.1 boards, 1.3 assists, shot 43% from the floor and 37 from 3.

Re: Basketball Recruiting
I like this addition. If he's better than Blakes and as good as Goldwire, he'll challenge the frosh and should get some court time. Our shortest players next season will be Proctor and Foster, both listed at 6'5".lawgrad91 wrote: ↑May 16th, 2024, 3:02 pmCameron Sheffield, a 6'6" guard from Rice, is coming as a grad transfer with two years eligibility.

Re: Basketball Recruiting
Nineteenth ranked Nikolas Khamenia is coming to see us next year. He’s a 6’8” power forward who all the prognosticators said was going to UCLA. I guess they shouldn’t buy power ball tickets tonight.

Re: Basketball Recruiting
He's either going to play behind Cam Boozer or replace K2, who some say resembles a sophomore Luke Kennard, when he plays his way into the NBA draft after this year.
