Not making this thread year specific, but we have a QB for '24.
Duke landed Tyler Cherry, a 3-4 star recruit, depending on who you look at. Either way, welcome to Duke!
Center Grove quarterback Tyler Cherry announced his commitment Saturday afternoon to Duke.
Cherry, a 6-5, 205-pound senior-to-be, said earlier this month that he was planning to commit before June, though that was before he added offers from Penn State, Boston College and Tulane. Cherry also had Power Five conference offers from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan State, Pitt and Vanderbilt.

It's a "Top 12", which equals a long shot, but it's still nice to see a 4 star from NC has Duke still on his list. He's got a hell of an offer sheet.
Duke and North Carolina have made the Top 12 list for Grimsley High School junior defensive end Bryce Davis.
Davis is a consensus 4-star prospect in the class of 2025. 247Sports ranks Davis as the No. 36 prospect in the class nationally. Rivals has Davis at No. 41, ESPN has him No. 72, and On3 is the lowest at No. 120 nationally.

Duke's next QB, 4 star Tyler Cherry, is taking visits to Indiana and MSU this weekend. Bleah.

From The Chronicle:
"DB Kaden McFadden: McFadden becomes the first recruit in the class of 2024 to decommit from Duke, as he announced Monday via X that he would be reopening his recruitment. This comes on the heels of a visit to TCU this past weekend, and the Texas product committed to the Horned Frogs just minutes after deciding to decommit from Duke. The safety is ranked as a three-star prospect."

Well, a coaching change wasn't going to only be sunshine and roses. I've been impressed so far with how Duke has managed the changes. We'll see going forward, of course, and there are no chickens, but thus far, it's been well-managed.

Coach Diaz is going to do whatever he can to improve the team but I’d prefer to see us stick with Grayson Loftis at quarterback while shoring up the offensive line via the portal. I would love to see us pick up a quality wide receiver.
The portal is a game changer so we need to be all in.

Sorry to read about Cherry re-opening his recruitment (insert negative Elko comment here). I was happy with what I saw from Loftis when his "yips" disappeared after Q1 or Q2. Gotta have more than 1 QB as we learned this season. I've heard no info about Beilin's surgery/return.

I agree. I liked Loftis and and am excited to see what he can do next year. That being said, competition for the job is a good thing.

Murphy visited Baylor, but Baylor is apparently signing the QB from Toledo.

Peebles is headed off to be a Hokie, not an Leprechaun. I guess Jordan didn't want to move?

Here's a look from Adam Rowe at a few of our early enrollees.
At the time of publishing this article, just over 24 hours until recruits are able to submit their signed letters of intent, twenty of Duke's verbal commitments from the Class of 2024 have kept their commitment to the Blue Devils. Nineteen of them intend to sign with Duke during the early signing period that runs from Wednesday, December 20th through Friday, December 22nd, and seven of them still intend to enroll early and will be moving in next month. Here's a look at the Elite Eight on Signing Day Eve.

PS, here's a highlight about California DB Kyren Condoll.
He is one of the state’s top defensive backs and is coming off a strong senior year. He earned 1st team all-league honors after totaling 55 tackles, seven passes defended and two forced fumbles.
“I really feel at Duke, it’s the best of both worlds. You can play high level football and get a great education and not sacrifice anything."

Yep. I had read a few days ago that the Gamecocks were on his radar. I'm assuming that OSU is out of the picture. Was Cherry our only QB recruit?

Yes. We need to pick up someone from the portal or a late recruit to avoid heading into the 2024 season with only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.

Welcome to Duke, Maalik!
Murphy is a 6-foot-5, 238-pound redshirt freshman who brings high-end arm talent to the position. He'll be immediately eligible and has three seasons remaining.
Murphy, ESPN's No. 250 overall player in the Class of 2022, is the highest ranked quarterback and sixth highest-ranked overall player that Duke football has got a commitment from since ESPN began ranking players in 2006, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
