The Leaving Early Thread

I’m sure it is no surprise that Daniel Jones has declared for the 2019 draft.

Just saw this afternoon that Joe Giles-Harris has declared as well. He will graduate in May.

I’m a little surprised by JGH since he has been injured, but I certainly wish both of them well.

Here's wishing them both the best of luck in the NFL. I hope Jones goes in the 1st round so Coach Cutcliffe can use it to his advantage in recruiting but I suspect he will fall to the 2nd round.

Joe Giles-Harris is a great athlete and talented football player. My prediction is he will go somewhere in the 4th to 6th rounds.

Of course I hope that DJ goes sooner than later, and of course I hope he makes the most of his opportunity.

A friend told me "I hope he becomes Brady's replacement". That made me think..do I want DJ going to a team I love, a team I hate, or somewhere I don't care about. I don't want to care about the Patriots. And I do care about the Panthers.
If he goes to a team I hate, and he sucks, well, that would suck for him. And if he goes to a team I hate that does great, that would suck for me. Likewise with a team I love. That would suck for me, or him. Whole lotta suckitude in those scenarios. (Course, he could lead the Panthers to the Super Bowl and be MVP, and that would not suck at all.)
Dear Daniel Jones, enjoy your days in Las Vegas.

Daniel Jones named MVP of Senior Bowl: 8-11, 115 yards, 1 TD plus a rushing TD.

CBS Sports slams Jones as inconsistent and says he doesn't look like a 1st Round pick:

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/new ... ne-in-win/

I agree Jones has a lot of work to accomplish but this article seems a bit high and right to me. :Boo: I expect Jones will be drafted in the 1st Round but if he isn't, he will go in the 2nd.

Keyston Fuller and Aaron Young have both taken to Twitter to announce that they are leaving Duke and will pursue other opportunities as graduate transfers.

Who do we have as a receiving corps for 2019?

:9f:
Tight end: Noah Gray, Jake Marwede, Mark Birmingham

Wide receivers: Jake Bobo, Damon Philyaw-Johnson, Jarett Garner, Scott Bracey, Dennis Smith

Plus we will have several true freshmen with decent ratings: Darrell Harding, Eli Pancol, Jordan Waters, Jalon Calhoun

Bottom line is the wide receivers are going to have to grow up in a hurry. It is time for two or three of them to shine.

I hope a bunch of talented high school quarterbacks read it!

Daniel Jones receiving lots of praise for his performance today during Pro Day. Talking Heads still projecting him as a 1st Round selection in upcoming draft. I really hope he is selected in the 1st Round because...

1. He deserves a big payday for his performance at Duke the past three seasons.
2. His success will help the staff on the recruiting trail.

HOFer Troy Aikman was impressed with Daniel's accuracy.
