Season Injury Status

With the two big ones we had today, I guess it is sadly fitting to have this thread.
Coach David Cutcliffe said it “doesn’t look great” and was bracing for his quarterback to miss a big chunk of time. He added Jones would be examined when the team returned home.

Cutcliffe doesn’t expect star cornerback Mark Gilbert to return anytime soon, either, after he exited with an injury to the left hip area in the second quarter.

The list was relatively short until today, and nobody as huge as these two losses. The others are...
Aaron Young
Marquis Waters
Jeremy McDuffie

You could hear the disappointment in Cut's voice in the postgame interview. What should have been a very happy evening for the program, unfortunately has a very sour ending. Potentially losing one of the best CB's in the country for the entire season. And now it looks like we will be without Daniel for significant time. I do not know how many teams outside of NCCU we will have a good chance to beat if we do not have 17 behind center.

Unbelievable performance by our defense today. Michael Carter and Josh Blackwell locked down NW receivers the entire second half. Our front 6 looked as good as we hoped they would. When healthy this is a top 25 team. Hoping for some not terrible news tomorrow!

This list isn't complete but it is what I know off the top of my head:

CB Mark Gilbert - out for the season
QB Daniel Jones - out

S Jeremy McDuffie - knee (ACL) - his recovery appears to have hit a snag
WR Aaron Young - hamstring
C Zach Harmon - lower leg
CB/S Michael Carter - knee sprain ?
DT Edgar Cerenord - unknown leg ? (he left the Baylor game and I did not see him return)
CB Josh Blackwell - unknown leg ? (he left the Baylor game and I did not see him return)

RB Brittain Brown - still nursing that hyper-extended knee ? he did not look fully healthy to me
RB Deon Jackson - ??? he was out of the game at the end with Marvin Hubbard getting carries - did he get nicked up?

I'm really not sure about the status of Brown and Jackson but the fact that neither played down the stretch when we were burning out the clock indicates the possibility they were less than 100% healthy.

I'm sure I missed someone.

The Jim Sumner NCCU game recap on front page of DBR indicates some more of the walking wounded will return against Virginia Tech. Moreover, he article states both Quentin Harris and Brittain Brown could have returned to the game yesterday if necessary.

Mark Gilbert - out for the season
Daniel Jones - out

Aaron Young - Hamstring
Edgar Cerenord - lower leg
Zach Harmon - lower leg
Michael Carter - lower leg

Jeremy McDuffie played against NCCU.

Not Duke...

Carolina quarterback Chazz Surratt is out for the season after undergoing wrist surgery:

I never like to see an athlete injured so hopefully Chazz has a full recovery. He is a good athlete that makes terrible decisions, which means he needs to be coached up and that isn't happening in Chapel Hill.

The hits keep coming...

Koby Quansah with a foot injury that requires surgery. He is potentially out for the season.

Edgar Cerenord gone for the season.

Coach Cutcliffe did not go into specifics in Tuesday's press conference but he sounded worried and the one specific he did communicate is Koby Quansah is still out.

CB Mark Gilbert - out for the season
DT Edgar Cerenord - out for the season
RB Marvin Hubbard - out for the season

LB Koby Quansah - out

RB Brittain Brown - status is a big unknown ???

Good news.
Duke says injured defensive tackle Edgar Cerenord has been granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA.

The school said Friday the redshirt senior will be eligible to play in 2019.
