Them Crooked Vultures

Them Crooked Vultures
Wow. A modern super group:
Dave Grohl (Nirvana and Foo Fighters) - Drums
Josh Home (Queens of the Stone Age) - Guitar
John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) - Bass

Put October 23rd on your calendars. This has definitely got my interest.

Any band featuring John Paul Jones is good with me. I will definitely be checking this album out.

Wow, indeed. I'll be purchasing that one sight unseen (or sound unheard, as it were).

They've released some clips on youtube (also available on the Facebook fan page). I heard one today that sounds like it rocks - absolutely rocks. Still no word on a singer though.

For anyone who is interested, here is a clip from a recent show in Amsterdam. The quality of the video isn't great but they definitely rock. These guys just get it:

Yeah it looks that way for now but I've heard some rumblings that they might be looking for a singer (which is why I mentioned above that there was still no word on a singer). If Home sings I'm fine with that. I'm also curious if they will pick up another guitarist. Right now they are a three piece band but Alain Johannes has done guest appearances at a couple of shows. If he stays in the band I guess it will be fine but I think I would like to see someone unconnected to their previous bands join as the second guitarist should they choose to have one.

This video showed a (rather bored looking) rhythm guitarist.

Ok did anyone else end up getting this album? I've had it since release but have only been through it a couple of times. Good stuff going on so far. I think I'm gonna bust it out tonight for lasagna bolognese.

I downloaded some tracks this morning (relax, downloading music is perfectly legal here in Canada) and like what I've heard thus far. Some of them are just OK but others are pretty good so, overall, I'd have to say I like it. Personally, I think live shows are going to be this band's real strength.
