Quin Snyder

Hope y'all are enjoying the comeback success story of Quin Snyder the way I am. Last night's Jazz game was a joy to watch. There's a little part of me that still wishes he could be K's successor. There's an article up on him OY today.
His time at Duke was fascinating. The OP had him as a student and would come home wringing his hands and saying "He'll NEVER pass this course!! He just doesn't take things seriously! He's having too much fun" In fact, he was known to not even buy the text until time for the final. Then, guess what? He'd ace it every time. The OP would come home after that grinning and scratching his head.
While on K's staff he was always accessible to everybody. You'd see him sitting on the hood of a car casually hanging out with students after games or meeting with average fans to chat in the hotel bar during tournaments.
I still remember his departure announcement which took place during a gala of some sort in Cameron. He had to come up onto the stage from the audience. The stage was at least chest high on him and the steps were on the other side of the room from his seat. No matter. No need to take the time to walk around there. He placed both hands on the dais and with a flat footed hop between his arms sprung himself up onto it, then smoothed back his Leonardo De Caprio lock of hair, and strode easily up to the mic.
It was the year Coach K had hip replacements. He was to take the stage after Quin. In order to allow him to be brought up privately, the houselights darkened and he was transported up to be already standing at the speakers' stand when the spotlight came back on. His first words were "I got up here the same way Quin did." and the crowd got a big laugh.
Over the years we've learned to never count Quin out. I'd love it if he ever got to spend one of his nine lives back among us.
Love, Ima
