Many thanks to all of you who have expressed sympathy over the recent death of my mom. She was a terrific fan of the Devils and living in Kentucky that wasn't always easy. She never let 'em see her sweat. She was stopped by a cop as she sped around Paducah honking her horn and yelling out the window that Duke had won that night after the '92 championship game. She delighted in wearing her Duke sweatshirt with a jacket over it so that only the UK showed until she flashed the rest of it along with a feisty grin. She was bed-ridden in a nursing home toward the end, but I made sure she always had her little blue horns that lit up to wear during televised games until she was no longer aware of where she was.
On the other front around here, DukeRah has been home for a few days now. Still spiking fevers up to 104 every night with no clues as to why. She is getting stronger, though and went out for some sunshine today -- rode along with us to the NC Farmers' Market to check out the first of the peaches. We're still feeling all your vibes. They keep us fully charged!
I turned 76 yesterday and was spoiled royally by the OP all day long. Brunch at the Umstead, dinner at Fearrington and presents in between. I must be doing something right.
Love, Ima
