Need help from Microsoft Gurus...

Hey all,
Need some help. My wife accidentally downloaded Windows 10 on her HP, and she HATES all this "intuitive" stuff. That's why she left Mac for PC in the first place. Is there any way, like with previous OS, to get the "old" look and feel?
Thanks,
Joe

I think you have 30 days to undo and go back to the old OS. Must be a button some where?

I dislike the "Stuff" from windows 10 also. I can't find anything on my HP. I do not have my desktop with all my saved icons.

The computer just made the upgrade or download automatically. I hate it!!

My old Dell keeps reminding me to upgrade to 10. I recently bought a new PC that came with "10". HATED it!!!! HATED it!!!! (Did I mentionI hated it?) I took it back.

I only use this old Dell laptop for Quicken with which I am so completely and hopelessly involved, I don't know what will become of me when it dies a natural death. I'm told that switching to Quicken on a Mac is wrought with angst, confusion and disappointment.

Any advice from other users of Quicken on how to go forward would be greatly appreciated and I will bless your heart forever.
Love, Ima

IMA - my involvement with Quicken goes back 15+ years or so. What version are you on? It is still possible to buy Windows 7 PCs at least for a few more months. I know HP sells them at their website.

Unfortunately, I think Microsoft is trying to move everyone to Windows 10.

I'm hoping they're getting enough complaints that they'll change it all for Windows 11. I'm going to try to hold out and see if 11 is less obtuse.

Install "Classic Shell". It is a great and free program that gives you the old school menu back. Windows 10 is a good OS, but better with a real menu.

Well, Windows 10 has killed my wife's computer. It downloaded despite her telling it not to. She's been trying to get used to it for a couple weeks, but it's miserable. Then it got really slow. Then it crashed with an IRQL error. Now her computer does a BIOS update every time we start up, then goes to a black screen and makes a clicking noise every few seconds for hours. It's dead. :( Damn thing was only a year old, too. Very sad. @};-

A small business won a 10k judgement against MSFT and its automatic Win10 update.

10K? Why did MS even let it go to court?

"Here, to save us both from embarrassment, we're giving you 20. We had to put a janitor on part time for 3 months, but we think we can afford it."

Do I have to wait until I have Windows 10 or should I download it now?

If you have 8, then you should do it. If you have 7, then just wait since classic shell wouldn't really help.

So I'm keeping 7 until they arbitrarily force me to 10. Then I will install the shell, right?
Love, Ima
PS Or is there a snowball's chance in hell that they will come out with an 11 that makes sense?

10 is really good, just different. If history repeats, then 11 will be different, and less than good. :)

There's a program called Never10 that allows you to delete the Windows 10 "prep" programs and disable the automatic download prompts. I just can't handle the data collection of 10, or the snail pace our computers move at with it.

After my wife went back to 7, her computer still wasn't working right. Never10 found and deleted over 3000 Windows 10 related files, and her computer is working much better now.

10 has screwed up all our police videos. The videos are still there, but all the information as to time and speed (for in car cameras) is gone. X(
