Shower Mishaps

Got in the shower today, and forgot that I ran a load of towels through the wash last night and hadn't folded/hung them yet. So when I get out of the shower, I'm soaking wet and there isn't a towel within 30 feet. Hate it when that happens.
A few weeks ago I got into the shower and someone had forgotten to turn off the overhead valve so I when turned on the water I got sprayed in the back with cold water. I really hate it when that happens.

I've had the first happen to me before. Definitely sucks.
As for the second, I'm not sure how that works. Could you explain it? Unless you've got two showerheads or a tub faucet on the other end from the shower, I'm having trouble picturing it. Unless you have one of those hand wands PLUS a showerhead, and the hand wand is on the other end of the shower from the showerhead. Is that what happened?

It has an overhead and tub, both on the same side. The knob that opens the valve for the shower head is rather ambiguous and gives no clear indication of which is currently open, shower or tub. So in my groggy, caffeine deprived state I didn't check to see.

Ah, now I get it. I read it wrong. I thought you were saying that someone had TURNED OFF the overhead valve, not FORGOTTEN to turn it off. That's where I got confused. I NEVER get in the shower until the water's hot, so I don't run into that problem too often.

It didn't happen to me. I was merely speculating based on the, uhh, "reports," or experiences of others.

I turn on the water and get the temp right BEFORE I get into the shower. If it happens to come out of the shower because the button that diverts water from the tub outlet to the shower head happened to stick, it isn't a problem, I just pull it out to get the water out of the tub outlet to adjust it.

I employ this strategy at home because the bathroom is a fiddy billion feet from the water heater and it takes a while to get to the back of the house. However, at Kelly's the water is instantly hot... unless you're purging the overhead line from an earlier shower.

Who was it (some comic) who wondered about towels and why wash 'e. Do we not dry our clean bodies off once out of the shower? What exactly is dirty about the towel... unless of course you are not showering correctly!
If the clean towels were in the washer and just waiting to be hung up/dried, why not use the spun-dried towel anyway?
Either that or use some clean/folded hand cloths from the clothes pantry! ;)

A brown towel. How can you tell if it's dirty?
You might as well be using brown toilet paper.

The issue was that any towel, dirty or clean, spun-dried or not, was on the other side of the house. So I had to run, stark naked and freezing cold to the other side of the house to retrieve a towel. This required a walk over carpet, leaving giant wet foot prints, which sucked.

Sounds like the carpet did some suckin' as well.
I've done it too. I would call it a safe bet that we've all done the same.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought maybe you had slipped on the tile and bumped your head.
I'm glad you're okay.
