Duke @ GT 12:30

Two positives. We have a week to heal and practice, and it is at 12:30.
Why is being a 12:30 game a positive? Because it sets up UVA for a better chance of being at 3:30.

Hoping A.B. is hovering over Sirk's bed nursing that boy back to health. :duke:

Beat Georgia Tech and we achieve a 1-1 split in our two toughest road games of the regular season. It will be tough but it is doable. Of course, the offense has to click and score points (lots of points) to beat the Yellow Jackets. Hopefully a lot of bumps and bruises will heal during the bye week. Jamison Crowder is not 100% healthy, Thomas Sirk is sick with a virus, etc...

Hopefully Dez is 100% for that game, too. Maybe Kelby can round up an extra can of whoopass from the sidelines ;) .

Entering the first bye week, this is exactly where we expected this team to be. 4-1. A win at GT puts us right back in the race for the coastal, and sets us up nicely heading into the UVA game. Hopefully we have a fresh, healthy, and rested team in Atlanta 11 days from now.

GT's win over the U yesterday really raises the stakes for our game against them on Saturday. Huge game for us (and them, too, obviously).

GT now ranked 22. (23 coaches, and we still have 12 votes in coaches.)
UVA has 1 vote in the AP poll. Get it done against GT this weekend. They ate so much clock against Miami running the ball at will.

Especially in the 2nd half:

1. GT outscored Miami 14-3 over final two quarters
2. Miami only had three possessions: FG, punt after 5 plays, interception
3. GT ran 37 plays compared to Miami's 24 plays

Turnovers and/or "3 and out" possessions cannot happen against GT. Offensive efficiency will be a must on Saturday in Atlanta.

This is a (THE) game during which I think we'll really, really miss Kelby.

So much for that, we'll be having another brunchgate for UVA. X(

:-BD .

That gives us time to eat, drink, beat the 'hoos and then head to W-S for our son's 30th b-day party.

Uniform for Saturday will be blue helmet, black jersey, and black pants. Georgia Tech always wears white at home, so we will be wearing our dark uniforms. This is the first time ever we have worn this combination, and it is the first time we have worn the new black jerseys.

I was elated today to see the Duke / GT line as GT only a 3 point favorite at home which essentially translates to Vegas seeing this game as an even match (ignoring home-field advantage). It can be done! Duke knows how to win tough games on the road (see VT and UVA last year). I also saw where Johnson responded to Cutcliffe's comments about his program and said:

"“How many receivers have they put in the NFL?” Johnson asked after the Yellow Jackets’ Wednesday practice in preparation for Saturday’s game against Duke. “I can tell you. None. They’ve had one offensive player (drafted by) the NFL in his six years there. … He probably ought to worry about his own business.”

Can't wait to watch this one.

I am sure Johnson and every other coach that Cut competes with in recruiting says the same sentence to prospects. Happily, the recruits don't always listen. :)

Oh..and PS, Duke is a dead end for big men on the basketball court. ;)

Paul Johnson sprinted away from an opportunity at Duke and hasn't been been pleasant or civil since. His digs are more about his own frustrations than about Coach Cutcliffe's comments or how many Duke graduates are in the NFL. How many players are in the NFL as the sole or best yardstick for program success is a misplaced priority in the big picture. ;;)

GAMEDAY!!!!!!!!!!

I have a really good feeling about this one. I see Boone and Crowder having a big day, and our defense playing well enough to win.

34-24 DUKE!!
