As the season approaches, I am looking for any reason at all to get even more excited for August 30th. This morning the Duke football equipment staff released the pictures of the brand new uniforms that the boys will be wearing this year. The "Indianapolis Colt" stripes that we have gotten use to since Cutcliffe arrived are now gone. The new uniforms have stripes on the sides of the shoulder pads instead of on top of the shoulders. It is a brand new look that is celebrating the team coached by Steve Spurrier 25 years ago. The Blue and White uniforms look very similar to the ones that the Blue Devils wore in 1989. (With maybe a touch of Nike swag added to them). There is also a new black uniform that looks pretty sleek as well.

The same color scheme is used, so we will still see the same color combinations on the field. Overall I am very impressed with the job Nike did on this new look. They have a 2014 freshness about them, but they also keep a classic look for the program. I attached links to a cool video of the new uniforms and a photo gallary of them. I like them, no complaints. I was fearful they would do something with the helmets, but happily the Iron D is still there. (And hopefully a lot of pitchforks to follow. )

Of highest importance to me is that the players seem to like them.... and so do members of the '89 team.

The 1989 ACC Champions will be honored at the opening game of the season.

If this team has a good season, the what the uniforms look like may no longer matter!
