Here is the current satellite imagery, which doesn't look very intimidating, but the storm is still developing. The image will automatically update every 15 minutes:

I'm not as bummed out as I was. I'm selling my tie dyes at the Croaker festival in Oriental, beginning Friday morning and ending Saturday night. With the storm coming tomorrow, and leaving early Friday, the weekend should be decent. I was not happy at the idea of two days of sales down the tubes, but now I think both days (at least from Friday afternoon on) will be nice.

We have friends coming in from the Triangle. They were originally supposed to arrive on Thursday evening, but we've postponed to Friday evening. Stevo, the dog and kitties and I will probably hunker down in the 1st floor guest room and man cave during the storm. If it becomes a strong Category 2 or above, we'll evacuate. Emerald Isle is ready for ya, Arthur

Here's our status as of a few minutes ago. I hate how storms always come in at night.
Craven: Tropical Storm Warning, Hurricane Watch. Main storm impacts 5 pm Thursday until 5 am Friday. Peak winds 40 mph to 60 mph. Water rises along the Neuse up to 2 feet above normal around New Bern and up to 4 feet over southeastern Craven. Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches.
All in all, that is likely a "worst case" scenario. I've been here and those "40-60mph" winds never really materialize unless it comes right on top of you, and in Arthur's case, he's supposed to stay off the coast. 1-3 inches of rain is squat, but my garden will be happy.

Was traveling for work this week; flying thru Charlotte. Arrived in the terminal at 3:30 for a 4:35 departure. Was hoping the flight would be able to go around all the weather mess, but alas, was not to be. Sitting here in CLT; they've posted 6:00 on the board but it's an open-ended delay and I don't believe them. Might be time to start wandering around drinking overpriced airport beer.

Damage to our lawn furniture after Arthur.
On a completely serious note, I hope all the residents along the east coast affected by this storm had as minimal effects/damage as we did.

Hit the BBQ stand in the food court and did a chicken and ribs combo platter with greens. Chicken was very good, ribs not so much, should have went with the pork instead but I already knew I was taking a risk with the category "airport BBQ". Sauce too sweet for Carolina, but they did have some vinegar sauce available on he counter so I was able to dial it down. Chased it with two Bad Penny brown ales (resisted the urge to buy a sixpack).
Long day but made it home. Flight left at 8:30, with quite the fireworks show above the clouds. On the ground in PHL around 10:30 and afer retrieving the vehicle walked in the door around 11:30. <whew>
Overall, I got off lucky; I got bored with the laptop (slow-lane CLT wi-fi SUCKS), then I killed the time people watching (especially the "girls in their summer clothes"), plus a young couple with a little fuzzhead toddler that reminded me of Swee'Pea when she was that age. The little kid was great - she must have thought she was on one very long trip to the zoo. Anybody going to metro NYC had no chance at all and at least a dozen flights to multiple cities were cancelled. The line to the rebooking counter went all the way to the end of the terminal and after a while they just handed out cards saying "call this number".
