My favorite article so far. Here is the opening line.
Explosive allegations from a member of North Carolina's 2004-05 national championship team destroyed any remaining insulation the Tar Heels' tradition-rich basketball program had from accusations of academic fraud that have rocked the school.

They have updated the espn link since it was first posted here. It now contains the following quote: "With respect to the comments made today, I strongly disagree with what Rashad (McCants) has said. In no way did I know about or do anything close to what he says and I think the players whom I have coached over the years will agree with me. The academic chairman at the center of the long-running academic fraud at UNC-Chapel Hill is now cooperating with an investigation led by Kenneth Wainstein, according to his attorney.

I agree with your sentiment, but you still need to wash your keyboard out for using that particular "f" word in the same sentence as the "T-H" word.

Ya know, if McCants is lying, UNC would be all over him with lawsuits . . . except for a few pathetic excuses, all I can hear from the Dump on the Hump is crickets.

They'll get away with it. They always whine that the NCAA is unfair to them, but I fail to see how that's possible. I despise them.
"Until now, UNC’s prestigious basketball program had avoided the controversy. It remains unclear what ramifications, if any, McCants’ claims will bring. The NCAA has shown no sign that it is interested in investigating UNC’s AFAM scandal.
Barring that admission, it could be difficult for the NCAA to investigate. John Infante, an NCAA rules expert who worked in the NCAA compliance offices at Loyola Marymount and Colorado State, outlined in a blog post how unlikely it could be for the NCAA to become involved at UNC.
“If UNC does not consider steering athletes toward the (no-show) classes to be a violation of academic policies, the NCAA cannot even start the process of finding an academic fraud violation,” Infante wrote on his popular ByLaw Blog. “And if McCants had a paper written for him but would have been eligible even if he had failed the class, that is not an academic fraud violation.”
