The Official Ross Cockrell Draft Watch

The NFL Draft commences tonight at 8 Bells (that's 8 pm EDT for you landlubbers). Round 1 is tonight. Round 2 and 3 are Friday night and 4 through 7 are on Saturday starting at 1200 (that's noon EDT).

My expectation is Cockrell will be drafted early Saturday afternoon during round 4 or 5; however, I am hoping he goes Friday night in Round 3. Some draft articles have labeled him a potential sleeper who will be selected earlier than projected.

A side watch will be the selections of the Cleveland Browns. With Conner Vernon having signed an off season contract with Cleveland, the last thing we want to see is the Browns selecting receivers. One mock draft I saw had them taking Sammy Watkins in Round 1. I hope not!

This thread is about Ross first and foremost because this weekend is his time. He has earned it. But I'll be keeping one eye on the Browns!

I'll also be keeping one eye on my Dallas Cowboys but I'm 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% sure Jerry Jones will F**K it up big time.

There is some scuttlebutt (Navy speak for rumors) floating around the WWW that the Carolina Panthers are interested in Cockrell. Perhaps they will take him with their 3rd round pick. Same rumors say they will go for an OT in the 2nd round.

What about the TB'CC's adopted son, Kenny Anunike? Is he expected to be drafted? :9f:

Weren't there a couple of A&M players called before Johnny's name was called? ;;)

At least two, Jake Matthews and Mike Evans.

Probably not. He should sign as an Undrafted Free Agent and get a chance to stick somewhere. Juwan Thompson is another potential UFA.

Here is a nice radio interview with Coach Cutcliffe from the David Glenn show:

http://www.accsports.com/articles/david ... r-a-player

He talks colorful language, Ross Cockrell and others...says Tajh Boyd is consistent when asked about ACC Quarterbacks in the draft. At the end, he talks Duke's Spring Practice.
"I think we have a chance to be a better product coming into August...We have a chance to have a good, good football team."

Congrats to Cockrell! He was the twelve cornerback and 109th overall player selected. As a bonus, he will be teammates with Thad Lewis.

I want to see both Thad and Ross score a TD in the same game.
