Out of Town CTNers Tailgate Invasion
Don't want this buried in the job vibes thread...
I was saying I am going to try and come up for a tailgate this year --- leading to a chorus of like minded folk.
It would be great if we could all show up on the same weekend. Who is thinking of making the pilgrimage to the promised land?

Is Norfolk considered out of town? I'll be at Tailgate prior to all seven home games.

Re: Out of Town CTNers Tailgate Invasion
I have looked at the schedule and either Tulane (9/20) or Kansas (9/13) are the leading candidates. 9/20 is better for me.
My 'rough' plan is drive up on Thursday - work from the hotel on Friday (thus saving a PTO day) perhaps hook up with some peeps for dinner Friday....tailgate and game on Saturday then drive to see WindsorsDaughter in VA on Sunday and spend a few days up there.
I may well be traveling with the puppy. At least that's the plan.
Any reason to strongly favor one game over the other (9/20 falls in the 'least busy' time of my work month but other than that I have no overriding reason)
Anyone else have any thoughts?

Yay! I'm excited to see you and the puppy! Whichever weekend you choose works for me!

Re: Out of Town CTNers Tailgate Invasion
I could do either weekend at this point. I would fly in Friday and flyout on Sunday. Any suggestions/thoughts on a convenient hotel?

Both dates should be good games. We'll have food and drinks available for humans and puppies both!

How about staying the R. David Thomas Executive Conference Center on campus? Rates are reasonable and include parking. You can walk to game day activities. They do fill up fast, so planning ahead is advised.DukieInKansas wrote:I could do either weekend at this point. I would fly in Friday and flyout on Sunday. Julie and I always stay at the Comfort Inn at exit 270 when we go to Durham.

Very nice breakfast and rooms, and that exit has everything you can ask for in the way of shopping and dining. Plus, it is very well priced and only a few miles from campus since it is on 15-501. You can go one way and yell GTHC or go the other way and yell GO DUKE! Either direction only takes 5 minutes.

If I indeed bring the puppy this one is a no-go as they do take pets the LaQuinta has been recommended and I know they are very pet friendlyCameronBornAndBred wrote:Julie and I always stay at the Comfort Inn at exit 270 when we go to Durham.

My daughter has procured a hotel for me (so nice to have family in the business) and Windsor and puppy Tyler will be in the House for the Tulane game.
Will probably drive up Thursday and head to see my daughter Sunday.

I'm teaching again this fall, so my attendance will be based upon the scheduling of my lectures. Assuming I can come, what hotel are you staying in?windsor wrote:My daughter has procured a hotel for me (so nice to have family in the business) and Windsor and puppy Tyler will be in the House for the Tulane game.
