Good lord...that was truly pitiful. This is becoming an all to common tourney experience. X(

You know, building a team around one and done's is not working too well is it?

Our bench filled with seniors agrees. They showed them, as Mercer sank free throws to take the lead, and Dre and Josh both had the faces of guys who had no hope in victory. It was very telling.

Yes, we may need to pivot with regard to strategic direction...

That was not the desired outcome.

Since I had to come back to the office, I couldn't drink. I ate a single serving sleeve of Thin Mints instead.

The one thing I have loved about David Cutcliffe's guys is, no matter the score, they never quit. They don't whine to the referee when a call (or a no-call) goes against them (especially DURING A PLAY), and they play hard until the whistle. They may have lacked in talent compared to their opponent, but they have never lacked in desire or heart.

Wouldn't it be nice if our men's basketball team could find some of that in time for next season. :sigh:

:ymapplause: I love the idea of our football team as a model for our basketball team.

I did see Conner Vernon complain fairly often after he was grabbed, held and mugged during many of the routes he ran. Though your point is well taken about the FB vs the BB team.

What the hell is it going to take to convince our BB team to learn to play defense again X( ?

On our sidelines we have coaches that won championships under K by playing strong defense. Those that didn't play it expertly at least played on teams that took pride in it. This is not a "Coach K" problem since he has a whole staff to teach the discipline of D. It is either that the current staff can't coach it as well as they were coached, or that the current players are harder to teach. No way of knowing, until, unfortunately, we see it happen again next year. A new crop, and same bad D means something is amiss on the bench, and not from the guys in the jerseys. If once again it becomes a forte of our team, then something was just funky about the guys on the court.
