Airport Contacts?

Okay folks, been absent for a while but am back and eager to catch up with everyone.

As many of you know, I was recently laid off (about 10 days ago). I admit I crawled into a corner to hide but am coming out (thanks Donna, Cathy, Honor, Roger, Wilson and others).

As Edison once said, "I failed 4,322 times until I got this mother f*cking light thing right." Okay, I took some liberties. Here's the honest to God deal: I just am not cut out for the big corporate world, yet, that's where my experience is.

I won't quit.

I'll keep on until I get it right, because I know I can be a great employee for someone. I DO work hard. Weather was/is a love of mine and my theory was that by joining a company whose brand I really believe in, I'd do well. I was doing well until the economy tanked. Then suddenly, not so well. I'm told by insiders I got caught up in a regional political triangle. In any case, I want to move on to my other love...............AIRPLANES.

Rog and Wilson will attest to this, I have a model collection and have always wanted to work in aviation. Anyone have contacts out there at ANY airport? I've worked in shipping and receiving before and love driving a fork lift. I'd love to service planes as they head out of the gate. It's been a love since I was a kid.

The reality is though, is that you generally need contacts to get a job these days. So again, anyone with leads in aviation? I'll do anything. I hate being idle and love to work. Please just let me know and many thanks in advance.

Best,

-EarlJam

EJ - I am rooting for YOU!!!!! YOU have my email and phone number! Don't hesitate, brother! It is all about the bottom line, not YOU, so don't personally, been there and done it and YOU ARE NOT A QUITTER!!! Just like Edison, many failed attempts resulted in the ULTIMATE SUCCESS! I'll continue to send you vibes and prayers!!!! :ympray: :-bd

No airport contacts, but if you ever want to get into the world of tech marketing....

Hell, a VERY large portion of MSFT's sales & marketing force is in Atlanta right now. Maybe you should find a way to sneak in and pass out resumes.

I have an airport contact. My friend's Dad works at Dulles airport here in DC. I could ask her if he's looking for anyone.

Hey EJ, I know some guys that used to fuel planes out of Charlotte-Douglass. It's not glamorous, but it's a start in that industry. It might open other doors for you. Interested?

That would be awesome, thanks. My background is mostly marketing, public relations but I'm all for a more "hands on" job for a while. I can forward a resume if you would send along an e-mail address. I tried sending one by PM but it was not taking the file.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Most definitely interested, thanks! Not sure my resume would help with that job, but honestly, I've always wanted to do work around aircraft like that for a while. I DO have some experience that is relevant (driving various types of fork lifts and heavy machinery back in the day).

Just let me know via PM of any next steps. Again, as mentioned with the Dulles job above, I'm definitely interested and thanks!

A cousin of mine and her husband are both air traffic controllers but they won't be of much help to you as they are at Prestwick Airport in Scotland. I did know a bunch of people who worked at Pearson Airport in Toronto (IIRC, you've flown into it) but, as far as I can remember, all of them have either retired or moved on.
