Just got a cyber message from a sort-of-friend who says "We're in Atlanta. Maybe the Duke fans are coming tomorrow.".

I am sure a lot of Duke fans will be in town for the game.

See my post in the LTE, (I'm just kidding though).

Just as a follow-up, Duke had an outstanding presence in Atlanta for the CFA. In the stadium, it was about a 50/50 split as far as Duke and TAMU representation, which was great to see. Our side was LOUD, too, particularly in the first half.

I heard through the grapevine that Kevin White was awestruck at the Fan Fest at just how many Duke fans were there. While we didn't win, we certainly showed that A) Duke is capable of hanging with the big boys in a big-time bowl, B) Duke can contribute to great TV ratings (the bowl pulled a 5.3, the highest rating on ESPN for a non-BCS bowl EVER) and C) we can draw a sizable crowd in an NFL stadium in a major metropolitan region.

All good things for our bowl futures down the line.

Now we just need to ensure that this season wasn't a flash in the pan and we're in business. Go Duke!

Everyone on ESPN, all that were at the game and watched the Game, know that Duke has a Football Team.
With 11 seniors, (most of them starters, tho)....Duke returns most of the team, along with Freshman that Red shirted and the incoming class of 2014. And Coach Cutcliff, ACC Coach of the Year, and National Coach of the Year ! Future looks Bright!

As an eye witness staying at the team hotel, the Duke presence was huge. Anyone who thought differently must have stayed outside the outer beltline. The crowd for the team walk was as big and as loud as A&M's. We filled up about half the stadium, not bad for a small N. C. school. The famous Aggie cheering wasn't at this game.

BTW Their band is quite large, but their music was quite dark and not given to creating upbeat, happy responses. Even happy melodies seemed to be in minor keys. The patterns the band displayed looked strangely like a military parade out of WWII.

I am disappointed with losing, but joyous about high level of play and being at a real bowl. It's easy to forget that half the teams in bowl games lose.

Our team seems to be dealing with what happened better than many fans.

When the A&M band starting marching toward the Duke end of the field, I thought we were being attacked by a German blitzkrieg. They just kept marching and marching and marching. They filled up all but the last few rows in the section in which they were sitting. Holy tubas, Batman!

I heard others make similar remarks about the stye of military marching. My reference to a WWII military parade was very PC. I don't use the N word even in humor.

Thanks for the eyewitness accounts! Ya'll looked and sounded great on the tube!!!! I bet we nailed a few great recruits in this effort! I'm particularly happy that this has all transpired during your tenure, Native. Your young lifetime loyalty and love for Duke deserves nothing less!

I'll echo this. If my niece does a campus visit, I want her to meet Native and Rolvix if they are available. They would be great ambassadors for Duke.

I think there were females in the band, but it was difficult to be certain.

I must reiterate how dark the music was and how the formations used in their marching resembled newsreels of WWII military parades in Europe. Some around me remarked that it was all a bit scary and eery. Having been to Texas numerous times, I wasn't altogether surprised by the heavy military tone.

The people around me who commented about the appearance of the A&M uniforms (band and cheerleaders) went farther back in history for their comparisons.... Germany in WWII.

i think you mean agriculture and mechanical.

I believe that, back in the SWC days, the Rice students famously messed up the A&M precision marching team during their halftime show by blowing whistles.

SMU was famous for creating just such an disruption. It happened on the holy field in College Station. The Cadets came streaming out of the stands with sabres drawn. Such disrespect is taken seriously there!
