I like this match-up. It should be an exciting game. Unfortunately, Perry Simmons is out for the bowl game per a Tweet by Mark Watson.

In the most recent AP poll, the Aggies are ahead of us two spots at 20th, in the Coaches poll, they are tied with us at 21st. Can't get a more even matchup than that.

GoDuke.com has announced it too. Has a torn ACL and MCL.

What a pity for a true scholar-athlete. :9f:

And apparently their coach didn't even vote for us in the final top 25. Good bulletin board material.

Perry Simmons is what a True Student Athlete is all about!!!! A 3.83 GPA in Engineering, and had 50 Starts with Duke Football. The best to Perry in his healing process.

Who is acting as back-up QB with Brandon Connette out? (leave of absence, right?)

(Sending another round of vibes for Brandon's mom)

Johnathan Lloyd, a quarterback from Southern Alamance High, will be starting at Duke in January and is allowed to practice with the team in Durham. :9f:

Simmons is such a big loss for the team it worries me in terms of the bowl game. Stoked they're playing Johnny Football though because love him or hate him the media is all over him and that exposure will help the Blue Devils regardless.

I really hope Thomas Sirk is healthy enough to practice and play.

Lloyd can practice with the team in Durham, but will not be able to travel with the Team to Atlanta per NCAA rules. He will begin classes in January.

Any update with Brandon's Mother?

Perry Simmons is OUT! And hopefully Brandon will be able to return to Atlanta for practice and the Bowl Game. Vibes to Mom Connette, the family and medical team.

Per Twitter, Coach Cut said Quay Mann would be playing Johnny F'in Football for the scout team. :9f:

Bob, is Thomas Sirk using a redshirt for this year? I assumed he was. If it costs a year of eligibility to play him in the bowl game I'm not sure what I'd do in Cutcliffe's shoes. Personally, I'll be offering up lots of prayers that Boone remains healthy and uninjuired so he can play for the entire game. I don't want to even think about the alternatives. :9f:

I think Sirk's redshirt year was last year and this will be a "lost" year for him due to the injury. He can't have a 2nd redshirt unless the first was due to an injury also, which is why Anunike was allowed an unusual 6th year as he had two injury years.

Man, that stinks. In that case, like Bob, I sure hope Sirk is healthy!

Wonder if Texas A&M will get any end of semester suspensions?

Oh wait. Sorry. They're in the SituationalEthicsConference now. 8-|

Uuuuggh....really sad to hear this news. So, I wonder what he does over the next year. It sounds like he's not eligible to take classes either. If he's not taking classes, I wouldn't think he's allowed to be involved with team activities. I really hope he does come back and continue his education. I certainly hope he can and will return to the field with Duke in 2015.

All that said, if there was any doubt about Coach Cuttcliffe's resolve to run a clean program, this is about as strong a piece of evidence as you can get.
