Duke Vs. Miami

Easily the best shot we have at defeating the Hurricanes since forever, but that doesn't mean it will be easy. Our QB situation will be interesting, and I'm sure that both Boone and Connette will be going hard in practice and the film room this week. I agree with both Bob and Football Fan that if Boone does not produce early, bring in Connette. That being said, I have faith that Anthony can find his way. And what a blessing Devon Edwards turned out to be. Just when teams lick their lips with the thoughts of Ross Cockrell being a bit banged up, Edwards steps in and makes them think twice. Twice! In 26 seconds!

Loving seeing Cockrell as listed probable. Actually I love the whole list, but that is really nice. With Duke Johnson out, we can expect Miami to try to keep it in the air as much as possible, so to have both him and Edwards as defensive threats will hopefully make things very difficult for the 'Canes.

Miami apparently has a 2nd good RB named Crawford who ran well vs the cheaters, gaining 137 yds on 33 carries.

WR Phillip Dorsett has been updated from Out to Doubtful. He hasn't played since suffering a partial MCL tear against UNC. He is Miami's top wide receiver.
The bad news is Dallas Crawford is a very good running back, but the good news is he isn't Duke Johnson.

Our defense is better than theirs.

I'd agree with you. From one of loran's posts OY:
"We're now ranked 54th on O and 53rd on D. Previously we'd been 34th on O and 67th on D.
Remaining opponents:
Miami - 23rd - 7th on O, 75th on D."

The Hurricanes suffered a huge blow when they lost star tailback Duke Johnson (920 yards, six TDs) for the season with an ankle injury. Dallas Crawford has been productive as a goal-line back with 10 touchdowns, but in a featured role last week he gained just 37 yards on 10 rushes.

That's an even better stat than 33/137 vs the cheaters
, though I'm glad he helped one school of cheaters beat the other
.

The Miami fans we passed going into the stadium and those we saw inside the stadium spoke about getting back on track after the NCAA investigation. Their references to Duke tended to have a condescending tone as if Duke is nothing in football. Some brought up the men's basketball season last year. As the fourth quarter kicked in, the Orange left the stadium. Good riddance!
