Definitely your lucky hat. Or maybe us doing the 5K this morning. I told B when we passed the gym on the way home I thought I could go in and hit the treadmill for another 3 miles! He told me absolutely not. :9f:

Raise your hand if you had Duke becoming bowl eligible before Nebraska, Texas, Florida, Georgia and USC.

I can see Ozzie waving both hands/arms wildly, even from 3 counties away. But, then again, Ozzie has us bowl eligible in April or May :D .

We have four winnable games left on the schedule with the team currently on a roll. A 3-1 finish will get us into a big name bowl, while 2-2 will most likely send us to Nashville. All we have to do is WIN! Beat State and we stretch a four game winning streak to five. One game at a time. Exciting times to be a Duke fan.

Here are the bowl tie ins:

ACC #1: Orange Bowl
ACC #2: Chick-fil-A Bowl
ACC #3: Russell Athletic Bowl
ACC #4: Sun Bowl
ACC #5: Belk Bowl
ACC #6: Music City Bowl
ACC #7: Independence Bowl
ACC #8: Military Bowl

FSU making the National Championship Game would move everyone else up a slot so we should all be rooting for the Seminoles to win out. The ACC Sports Journal Power Rankings last week were as follows:

1. FSU 2. Clemson 3. Miami 4. Virginia Tech 5. Georgia Tech 6. Boston College 7. Pitt 8. Maryland 9. Duke 10. Wake Forest 11. North Carolina 12. Syracuse 13. NC State 14. Virginia

With VT, BC, Pitt and Maryland losing yesterday, I see Duke moving up two or three spots to six or seven, which would line us up to head to Nashville or Shreveport (or Charlotte if FSU is in National Championship Game). It is going to be so much fun tracking this the rest of the season.

I could deal with going to the bowl game in Charlotte again.

(I can hardly believe that I'm typing the words "bowl" and "again" in the same sentence.) :happy-bouncyblue:

And a great time for a bye week. I think we need it.

Received from GoDuke this evening:

Duke Football is Bowl Eligible...Again!

On the strength of its 13-10 victory at No. 14 Virginia Tech on Saturday, the Duke Football team became bowl-eligible for the second consecutive season! Fans interested in following the Blue Devils to their bowl destination may register for tickets on GoDuke.com/tickets or by calling 919-681-BLUE.

Last season, Duke had a terrific turnout at the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, selling more tickets to its bowl game than any other school in the Atlantic Coast Conference. We hope to keep that tradition alive this season! Certainly, we thank all of you in advance for your support of Duke Football.

Fans can select the game(s) they would be willing to travel to from the list of potential bowls based on the ACC's bowl partnerships listed below, and register via credit card. Once the Blue Devils are selected for their bowl destination, the ticket order will automatically be charged to that specific bowl. All other bowl games that fans have selected will be released at no charge.

No refunds will be available once a site has been selected. Ticket seating will be based on Iron Duke priority with all fans who register before November 30th gaining a higher seating priority than those who register after that date. The ACC and the bowl sites will officially announce bids on December 8.

I've been checking out hotels at different bowl sites. So far, those in Nashville are by far the most expensive. They also require a deposit. Hotels at other sites already have rooms tied up in blocks awaiting designation of teams playing. If there's much travel involved, that travel agency on contract with our athletic department will need to step up this year and facilitate big time. ;;)

Nashville might be a smidge expensive...hotels aren't the cheapest, and from my understanding, the game tickets for the Music City Bowl are pretty much the most expensive of any of our realistically possible destinations. That said, I love Nashville and would highly recommend the trip for anyone who can make it, especially if you've never been before.
Sadly, I won't be able to make the game this year, because I'm already slated to go to Lake Tahoe for New Year's...tough duty, but somebody's gotta do it. :D I'm finding great consolation, though, in the fact that on that trip, I'll be setting foot in a casino for the first time in my life, where I'll be able to watch my Blue Devils in a bowl game from the sports book and win some money after we kick butt. :duke:
