Duke Vs. The Wuffies

Starting this now, even though it is still a couple weeks away. Mostly I am starting in wait of the KO time announcement, which we won't know for another week.
Today the ACC gave NCSU a 12:30 for their game on Nov 2nd. As always, I love to believe that they don't like to give the same team back to back early kicks, and we have already had 2 this year. So I am hoping optimistically that they will realize that WW will be absolutely packed for that game and give us the night slot.
On stubhub, over 1,100 tix are available....grrrr. There is going to be lots of red in the stands that night/day, so I'm hoping Duke fans come out in droves to answer.

I remember reading or hearing somewhere that UNC had had four noon or 12:30 starts before the Zero Dark Thursday debacle last week. Don't know what sort of implications that has for assignment of games to networks and time slots. The ACC as a whole is getting more early starts than last year. I hope that things go so well for us in Blacksburg that an afternoon slot is deemed best for the game on Nov. 9.

I believe we will get an afternoon start not the night game, because of the other ACC match-ups that day. Virginia Tech at Miami will be the marquee ACC game unless we knock off VT on Saturday
. Notre Dame at Pittsburgh is another one we will be competing with.
On a side note, if the game ends up with an afternoon start time, I'll be looking for an extra ticket or two. I want to bring my Dad along but at 82 he will not attend a night game in November. So if anyone has a ticket or two they will not be using, keep me in mind.

I'm thinking we kick out the jams/blow the doors off/pull out all stops/(insert whateve worn cliche you like here) for the Pack. I think AW had already suggested a high gravity day for brews. I've got a candidate or two.

An afternoon kickoff allows for proper preparation.

Awesome kick off time!
This calls for multiple packs of bacon and pimp cake.

4PM works. That is actually the last game of the afternoon on the ACC schedule, night games yet to be announced. Will be on ESPNU, so it's national.

Monday, Nov. 11th is TigerDevil's Birthday, so I'll be bringing a Red-Velvet Birthday Pimp Cake to share with everyone and will probably even bring some candles...
... and if I'm fortunate enough to snag a deer this Saturday, venison filet for everyone at the tailgate!

We need to take care of business here. With the VT loss today and anticipated Miami at f$u loss and GT's anticipated loss at Death Valley tonight, we might have control of our own fate if we can beat the Pack next week and face Miami the following week. However, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...

Wait, I just saw Clemson is playing at 'Hoovile tonight. Never mind.

As long as everyone gets to the right stadium next week, everything will be fine.

This should probably go under a Duke vs. Wake Forest post, but as it hasn't been made....
http://espn.go.com/college-football/sto ... -4-6-weeks
I don't wish misfortune on others for us to win, but it's likely Wake will be without their best WR for our game. I know the coaches and players have to play 1 game at a time, but I like that our odds of having a winning season just went up.
On State vs. the Heels, with either outcome we could take some positives. Losing gets in the brain, so the wuffies losing to UNC can help us this coming week. I also like that we have another week of film to plan for State's QB. He looked big and I could see where he could pose some problems for a defense.
If Boone comes out throwing high and errant, anyone wonder if we'll see a change at QB? It would be odd to replace a guy who hasn't lost as a starter. I'm hoping they get Boone rolling early to get him out of the funk.

You gonna join us for the NCSU game?

Miami's Duke Johnson out for the year as well with a broken ankle:
http://espn.go.com/college-football/sto ... ting-ankle
Despite my "rooting for the ambulance driver jokes," I hate seeing players get injured. However, Duke's chances to upset Miami on November 16 just went up. If we can pressure Morris, he is erratic.
Okay, back to the business at hand...Go Duke! Beat State!

I don't know whether they are equal or not but think about if Duke lost Vernon last year and the cheaters lost Bernard. Very good points though. Here are some 2013 rushing stats:
1 Andre Williams, RB BC 216 1176 5.4 62 10
2 Duke Johnson, RB MIA 145 920 6.3 59 6
3 Kevin Parks, RB UVA 160 696 4.4 61 9
4 Roderick McDowell, RB CLEM 131 677 5.2 45 3
5 Devonta Freeman, RB FSU 110 639 5.8 60 8
6 David Sims, RB GT 114 610 5.4 36 9
7 Jerome Smith, RB SYR 116 587 5.1 66 8
8 Isaac Bennett, RB PITT 105 543 5.2 31 5
9 Robert Godhigh, RB GT 42 473 11.3 65 3
10 Brandon Ross, RB MD 91 458 5.0 36 4
And some receiving figures:
1 Sammy Watkins, WR CLEM 66 982 14.9 96 7
2 Michael Campanaro, WR WAKE 67 803 12.0 66 6
3 Rashad Greene, WR FSU 45 773 17.2 72 8
4 Jamison Crowder, WR DUKE 60 769 12.8 62 3
5 Devin Street, WR PITT 40 690 17.3 67 4
6 Eric Ebron, TE UNC 44 669 15.2 71 3
7 Tyler Boyd, WR PITT 45 644 14.3 69 6
8 Alex Amidon, WR BC 49 638 13.0 69 3
9 Kenny Shaw, WR FSU 34 618 18.2 55 3
10 Allen Hurns, WR MIA 33 590 17.9 80 4
Those are huge losses for Miami and WFU.

Also representing at the NCSU tailgate:

Maybe a few others.
