Our friend, Jim, is going to have triple bye pass surgery on Tuesday. I went with him this past Wed. for a heart cath. His doc did not want him to go home, he strongly advised Jim to be admitted, then transferred to Moses Cone Hospital for the surgery. Jim had not seen a doctor in over 30 year. He is also a smoker since he was 14 years old. You can imagine his health issues. He would have never gone to a doctor with out Bud's and my encouragement. Bud works out of town Mon. through Thurs. So, I'm doing what needs to be done. What ever. I will be going to Greensboro everyday this week, until Jim is discharged. Bud and I will do what ever is necessary until he is on his feet. Some of you might remember Jim. He was at my birthday party 2 years ago.

Oh, I do remember meeting Jim at your birthday party.

I'm praying for him and for his medical team. Hugs to you, VDB!

Thanks for all the vibes. The bye pass was X 5. They couldn't use his arteries in the chest so the veins from his legs were used. They didn't have any trouble getting him off the heart machine and hope to remove the vent before tomorrow. He will need rehab before he goes home. All considered, Jim is doing as well as can be expected. The surgeon said if he starts smoking again, he wouldn't give him 2 years. I will do my best to make sure he is hooked up with a "program" that can help.

They are. I went to Greensboro this morning. While I was there, the vent was removed, with no problem. Jim, of course,is mostly sleeping. His son was to come around lunchtime, his brother, mid afternoon and daughter after she gets off work. Tomorrow, we well also stagger the visits. Bud will be home tomorrow evening. He will begin going Fri.
