Vince Oghobaase is heading to Ohio State. I think this one is just good for that young man to get to showcase what he knows and teach some others. Plus, he'll be involved with a great program. Perhaps he'll come back someday, but it's great to see him get a chance.

I think Coach Cut really has developed a program. It's not just about the guys while they are playing. People are coming after our coaches. That's a really good sign. Its the type of thing media and publications can just miss.

Coach Cut said we had the best program in the State. He said that 2-3 years ago and everyone laugh....he then told them that having the best program doesn't necessarily mean you have the most wins now....since then NC State and UNC have new coaches. One due to lack of oversight. We got over the hump beating Wake in Winston Salem and last year topped UNC. Last time we played NC state, we got a win.

I love the direction of this program and what Coach is doing!

Hugely agree. Cut spoke highly of Oghobaase in the announcement. Vince is not leaving for any reason other than a promising opportunity, and nobody can fault him for that. He specifically said "I bleed Duke blue", it would not surprise me at all to see him back one day.

Another one leaves....for MUCH greener pastures. Leon Wright is taking a job at LSU.

I think there's a new trend emerging for football... there's the obvious one about programs which hire Duke staff and former players.... but I'm thinking bigger, more overriding than that. When have we discussed former football players' assent as coaches? ;;)

Leon heading to LSU and Vince heading to Ohio State make a real statement about the quality of our coaching staff and how our coaching staff is viewed by other programs. These guys are moving on to legit national title contenders, and could potentially return to Duke in the future as key assistant coaches just like Scottie Montgomery.

So, this isn't a coach leaving, but rather administration. Stan Wilcox, our deputy director of athletics, gone to FSU to be an AD. Again, defections from a team that is on the upswing usually means people are noticing the rise of this program. Definitely not a 1 year fluke or a coach getting a quick hitter and stepping on to another position. This is some of proof in the pudding when Coach says the improvements in the program are across the board and not just what the head coach. The whole administration is behind these improvements we're seeing on the field.

Key thing now is getting a replacement that's better than the one leaving. That'll likely prove difficult, but hopefully we'll get a good one.
