Blacklist?

I was at the hospital this afternoon with Sarah and we were signing her up for crazietalk using her laptop. We were trying to come up with a good username for her so we decided to ask all you guys for suggestions. When we tried to post the topic, an error message came back saying the IP address had been "black listed". :o
Now that I'm home, I'm trying again. We'll see if this goes through from here. Strange
Love, Ima

Lavabe has had the same nightmare in Madagascar. I don't know where the block is coming from, but it seems to be occuring on public networks. The block is not generated by CTN, at least not as far as I have been able to tell, so it must be tied in through the webhost. I'm looking into it, but no solution so far. (Public networks are often a source of spam and viruses, so that is why they are on the blacklists)

That might be a way to shut down some posters who might be ahead of you in post counts (or closely behind you).

Just kidding. Sorry you are having to deal with that crap. :x

AHA!!!! There was a security setting that authenticates IP's versus spamhaus and one other blacklist that I hadn't seen. I have disabled it for now, and as long as we don't see a flood of spam coming in, we'll leave it that way. It takes a coach to do the hard work around here.

All praise be to the Coach! ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^

Special thanks to IMA, as I had been doing cartwheels trying to clear up the issue from my end. It wasn't just me! :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Sarah's computer is actually her work laptop issued by Durham Public Schools. Must be their system that was part of this problem. We'll see if what you've done has cleared it up.

Thanks guys,
Love, Ima

CoachK, anyone ever tell you that you rock? I was getting the blacklist error too when posting from work. Thought it odd since we use Verizoff for the corp ISP. Our IS folks keep it rather open for outbound websites, and some of the techie folks often post on work-related boards, so it didn't make sense...

Keeping my fingers crossed that you can keep the current settings; it's good to pop in at lunchtime or before heading home...

P.S. I've never been able to do a cartwheel....

Frighteningly, I CAN do a cartwheel. Ever seen a 290 lb. dude do a cartwheel? Not pretty, but I can do one.

We need video proof. Get your wife to record it. Then you can post it on youtube for us.

Bjornolf - If your mama bear won't reveal, I think I have a camera that does movie pictures! I'd be happy to help! :D

Um, I'd rather not have video evidence out there of it. Would ya'll accept our word if I did it for the bone man 8-x and he just told you all about it, between guffaws?

I tried to sign on as my mom with her Iamduke user name and password and got a message that too many sign on attempts had been made and to type in the code. No visible code to type in though :(

I'll see if I can reset her user. I don't know what code it is talking about.

I forced her reactivation, which I assume means it has sent her an email, and she will have to login with the new activation code.
