Question for those at game last night, you too Native

Someone reported this on our Facebook page. I hope it isn't true and it was a misheard chant.
FB user..."I am a huge Duke fan...love the Crazies, but for real, what was up with that chant last night... leave the trashy behavior to the Maryland fans...would love to know how others felt about this"
CTN..."What was the chant?"
FB user..."At the NCST point guard whose Grandma just passed, Duke fans chanted "Hows your grandma""
Any truth?

Sadly it sounds like they are chanting both. Whether they are or not, I don't know, it is so hard to hear any chant well sometimes unless it is Our House or GTHC. But it does sound like there are two different chants there.

I agree, it sounds like it starts with Past Your Bedtime but then you hear something else. Essentially a handful of rejects are making the whole group look bad...

Laura Keeley, trusted journalist, gives her take. Also some thoughts on why K doesn't "do revenge games".

For reasons unknown, though, some Internet folks have decided that the Crazies were, in mass, really saying, "How's your Grandma?" in reference to Lewis' grandmother that died last week. That's just false.
There was no such chant on a large scale.
But it sounds like it may have been there.

I have listened to it about four times at my desk. I didn't understand the cheer live, and I do not hear anything about "grandma" when I listen now, even though I've listened on a couple of different links. It is my understanding that the person who started all this took his tweet down almost immediately after, and wasn't even at the game.
Does anyone think Coach K would let the Crazies say something cruel like that? I remember when they chanted "Hand Job" at UVA's Donald Hand and he made them stop. Immediately.
(climb on soapbox)
I, for one, am absolutely sick over Duke being dragged through the mud. I looked at the first comment after the N&O article and it said, in essence, well Duke is classless, I mean, look at the lacrosse case.
WHO THE FUCK GOT CONVICTED OF ANYTHING IN THE LACROSSE CASE? The prosecutor, that's who. The alleged victim, that's who. But those of us who are Duke fans are all horrible people because someone we are tangentially connected to picked up bogus charges. I would like to open a can of whoop ass on the comments on the N&O, but will probably let my good sense overtake me before I hit the send button.
Thank you for allowing me to rant.

I agree LG! Duke was Nifong's victim in the Lacrosse case... any journalist who says otherwise is blindly hating Duke and should have zero credibility...

I was at the game with my binoculars as usual. I use them frequently during games to read the lips of the Crazies way below me when I can't understand a chant. I was using them during that chant. I definitely read "Past your Bedtime!" and saw nothing that could be misconstrued as anything else. (and I'm good at this!)
Furthermore, the chant definitely went on long enough for Coach to have intervened as he is prone to do if anything mean gets started. He did not.
Love, Ima

I am 100% sure that there was no coordinated effort to organize a "How's Your Grandma" cheer. I present the following facts to the jury:
1) There was no mention of Tyler Lewis' grandmother on the dirt sheet. Consider the people who have lambasted the Crazies in years past for not being knowledgeable enough about the other team. Is there any chance that 95% of students would know about that incident even with it not being on the dirt sheet? And I write the dirt sheets, so I know this better than most.
2) As you can clearly see from the photo above, that strikingly handsome undergraduate (I'll give you a hint: his CTN username ends in -ative) is clearly coordinating a "Past Your Bedtime" cheer. Let the record reflect that the very same whiteboard was shown on the jumbo-tron to the entire stadium shortly thereafter. That's an important fact that's somehow not been reported.
Is it possible that a few rogue Crazies may have misinterpreted the cheer from the opposite end of the LM section and accidentally yelled about Lewis' grandmother? Possibly. This took place in the second half, opposite the side on which I and the other LMs sit, closer to the State contingent. I can't say I know every intimate detail of what is said in the Crazies during a game, especially on the other end. Most reporters who claim to have heard "How's Your Grandma" now say that it was only one or two students, if any.
What I can say, however, with absolute certainty, is that the large-scale chant in question was "Past Your Bedtime". Period. Any attempt to tell you otherwise is someone simply trying to make Duke look bad.
Now, the "Wood Is Soft" chant, that was all us.

PS: Condolences to the Lewis family, too, as people getting bent out of shape over this must be making a tough time for them even worse.
And I love my grandma.
