Suggestions for Atlanta?

I am going to Atlanta for the 2012 State Farm Champions Classic
and have a couple questions.
1. Is anyone else going to be there?
2. Suggestions for dining - nothing too fancy/dressy. We are staying at the Omni CNN Plaza.
3. Any sightseeing suggestions? We are not planning on renting a car - although driving out to see my old house and elementary school would be fun. We are thinking of CNN tour and Coke.
I will feel better when I actually have the tickets in my hands but that is up to the KU athletic dept. (That's the bad news - will be sitting in the KU section. At least we aren't playing them so I can root for the Jayhawks and hope that they will root for Duke instead of Kentucky.

MLK Center and MLK childhood home. There is nothing else in Atlanta more central to the life of this country. Being able to sit inthe church where he preached (just blocks from the home where he grew up), and close my eyes and listen to his sermons being broadcast over the load speakers brought me to tears. It took a whle to explain to my (then 9 year old) son why I was crying.

Georgia Botanical gardens. Ask Lavabe and/or ILJ about them.

You can go look for pirates! ;)
But seriously,
1) Will you have any access to a car?
2) What cuisines do you prefer?

Atlanta Botanical Garden (not Georgia Botanical gardens).
Hmm... a little too cold for the flowers at that time of year.

True - but we arrive Monday and leave Wednesday, so no time for a game.
I'll need to check with the other 2 going on type of food. Hadn't planned on renting a car but would consider it or cabs for the right options.

Just so you know I am green with envy! This tourney was in our plan last year at this time but have postponed Atlanta in hopes we'll have a chance to see the Devils there in March! An optimist I am, I am! Have fun!

If you are looking for a fun place in a cool area to have one of the world's greatest cheeseburgers (as voted on by numerous publications), check out The Vortex near the FOX Theatre in Midtown! Fun!
If you are looking for good laughs, consider The Punchline comedy club in Sandy Springs (It's natinoally famous and almost ALL the star comedians have performed there. It's also very small, intimate. Always a fun time. Also, the "Whole World" Improv Theatre (I think that's the name) on Spring Street in Midtown. Fun, FUn, FUN!
Lastly, if you want some terrific, wonderful, delicious good 'ol Southern cooking, visit Folks off of Windy Hill Road and Cobb Parkway in nearby Smyrna. The best part? It's home to my now world famous COCK! You have the opportunity to see it, touch it, even mount it! Have your picture taken with it! FUN! Do this, and I'll pay for your dinner there!
Happy to provide more suggestions! Would be fun, if nothing else, just to hook up and say "Hello!"

Somehow, telling my traveling companions that I need to go mount EarlJam's Cock doesn't seem like it would be very appropriate. They are my friends - but she was my boss for over 26 years.
Seeing EarlJam to say howdy would be fun. I wish we were going to be there longer but we all need to be back on Wednesday and I have Sunday morning commitments. Also, to get a full day on Monday would have meant leaving at O'Dark Thirty and that didn't appeal to any of us. If your cell # hasn't changed since you were in KC, I may try to give you a call.

Oh PLEASE go have your picture made with EJ's cock. That could be a legendary photograph!

Blasphemy! It's just not the same as THE VORTEX at Little Five (but admittedly, the one in midtown is easier to get to).
Get thee to the Brick Store Pub in Decatur (easy to get to, via MARTA).

I just got an email that the tix have arrived and will be delivered to me shortly. If the pictures/seating chart on the Georgia Dome website are accurate, should be decent seats. I wonder what sections Duke has for tix? I hope KU is closer to Duke or MSU and far from Kentucky.

The tickets I ordered for a friend (I'm not going) were Section 119, row 3.

Thanks for the info, Ozzie. I'll be in 126 - which looks like it is between center court and the free throw line on the team side of the court. I just can't tell is we are closer to center court or the key since I can't find a map that actually shows seat number.
I'm looking forward to it. I wonder if I should take the Blue Devil headband that Shereec gave me at the Alabama game?
