Carolina at Duke

It is time to get the "Bowl Eligibility" monkey off our backs! Let's beat Carolina and be done with it. Vegas has the Tar Heels favored by 10 with the over/under at 63. My crystal ball looked pretty good last week until the wheels came off late in the 2nd quarter. I've shined it up this week:
Duke 42, Carolina 38 in a gunslinging shootout.

Just remember, the blue ball with 3 holes in it would be your bowling ball.
I only know this because I made that same mistake... ;)

I've personally been avoiding anything and all football after the major letdown that made up the last 3 quarters of the Turkey game, but I've come to grips with it. In fact, I've come to embrace it. Our guys went in to Blacksburg on a high, came out insanely well, and then got kicked into next week. Guess what? It's next week..and I'm thinking we might just be a bit pissed off. That's a good attitude to have. Just like when our next opponent loses big I think "uh-oh"..I would be thinking the same about Duke if I was a Tarheel.
UNC is suffering the lack of bowl eligibilty, but nothing else. They are a fast team, playing very well. We are at home, but Wallace Wade has never offered much of a "home advantage", especially not when we play the heels. I'm hoping to see TONS of Duke Blue this Saturday, and for our fans to make plenty of noise..at least enough to drown out the gawd aful "tar - - - heel" chant.
I'm excited to see how our defense has prepared. UNC can put tons of numbers on the ground, but will they go airborne more for this game? VT had plenty of success up high last week. How will our QB situation shake out? Renfree all day, or a mix of him and Boone with a side of Connette?
Tons of questions to be answered. I only know the answer to one of them...the pre-game festivities will be a blast. And tasty.

There's a little movement underway. Ringing cowbells at football games is an old tradition. I'm taking a cowbell Saturday and I'm hearing about others who are planning to do the same. A chorus of cowbells can overrule the Carolina cheers if we have enough bells.

So it wasn't confiscated! Is that a picture from this season? Somebody on another board brought up the prohibition of
artificial noisemakers in the stadium.

I saw that! That is Tilly at the Alabama game..and she has used it other games too. I am quite sure that they will allow cowbells into the stadium.

Just punched Cutcliffe up a notch in my book. Bless his heart, he nearly blew it all for us with that stupid fake punt call. But, he apologized to the team on the air (and probably in the locker room as well). He admitted the guys saved his bacon tonight. Never heard a coach do that before. I was ready to blame Roper. But Cutcliffe said it was his call. You can bet your fedora that this is the right coach for Duke!
Love, Ima
9f fer sher.
PS I bought a new sweatshirt tonight when I got cold. Guess this is my NEW lucky shirt!

Boys and girls, history was made tonight! We'll all remember this one!
All the sneaky hits and trash talking didn't save the Rams Club from a sad trip home. No cars burning on Franklin Street tonight.

I thought my regard for Coach Cut couldn't get any higher after he turned down Tennessee to stay at Duke, but he proved me wrong last night. Loyalty, integrity, AND a great coach, that's our man.
I really hope the ACC and/or the NCAA can review that nasty hit on Vernon, because that went WAY beyond the usual little dirty things that go on during a game. It was a really cheap shot, and I wish the refs had actually seen it, because IMO he should have been ejected for that.
In any case, GO DUKE! So proud of that team right now! They fought back and kicked the baby blue menace right in the ass.

I'm blind, I'm deaf...
Should have been 15 yards. Ejection. One game suspension. The gutless bastards in the acc office will do nothing. Remember who the commish is...
Rat bastards.

Glad to know the ACC did something.
Also glad I was sitting down when I saw this, or I might have passed out.
