Roy Williams in surgery for kidney tumor
http://www.wralsportsfan.com/unc/story/11566075/
Oh my gosh. I hope and pray that this man is going to be okay.
My dad died 72 days after the docs discovered his kidney cancer. I hope that Roy's disease is different than my dad's was.
Cancer bites the big one.

Vibes and prayers for Ol' Roy. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone.
If his prognosis is good, why is there a second surgery already scheduled for next month?

The current surgery is on the right kidney. The second surgery is on the left. Tough sequence of events under any circumstances.lawgrad91 wrote:Vibes and prayers for Ol' Roy. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone.

Vibes to him. Fun to make fun of as a rival's coach, but as a fellow human he's got my best wishes.

They haven't said it's cancer. Remember, lots of lumps aren't. Just a tumor removed and they expect a full recovery.

Re: Roy Williams in surgery for kidney tumor
I wish Roy a quick and total recovery. Wanting someone to be on the losing end of every college basketball game they are affiliated with is one thing, wishing them ill health of any kind (other than migranes caused by their team) is another.
am I truly evil if I secretly hope that this health issue causes Roy to re-evaluate his priorities and opt to spend more time with his dadgum family?

Wonder if he's "faking" this like K "faked" his back injury in 1995 cuz he expected a bad year.
I'm completely kidding, of course, and wish him a benign pathology report and a quick recover. It just won't be the same if he's not squatting and/or flailing on the sidelines during unc MBB games.

I agree, but note that a second procedure will be done on the other kidney in October.... raises some concerns.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:They haven't said it's cancer. Remember, lots of lumps aren't. Just a tumor removed and they expect a full recovery.

Vibes for Ole' Roy for a speedy recovery from his surgery yesterday. And he has another surgery on the other kidney, in a few weeks. Unc has something going on every few days!
Bless his heart, as IMA would say!
Get well soon, Roy......... so we can all yell at you during Basketball Season! Vibes

I hope he passes through all of this, and gets back to coaching. Dadgummit, get well soon, Roy!
I can just see the Cameron Crazies giving him some red roses and a card, the next time he visits CIS. No avuncular letter needed.
On another note, as I was reading through one of the articles about this, it mentioned that Hubert Davis was helping out in Chapaheeya.
I was shocked to find out that he left ESPN this summer. Honestly, I thought having him on the same stage as Jay Bilas made ESPN Gameday a lot of fun. Have they decided on a replacement?
Boy... am I ever out of the loop!

Posted that link on CTN's facebook page with
We are very happy to hear Ol' Roy does not have cancer. Doctors said the tumor was initially caused by "the sinking feeling in the pit of his gut as Austin Rivers' shot fell through the net".

That's good news. Who will be the next Duke player to cause as much trouble as Austin? ;)
