The Irish are coming, the Irish are coming...

They will remain independent in football, but will play 5 games against ACC opponents.

I think this stinks. Just a further erosion of a once proud and meaningful conference. Competing in everything BUT football? Nuts. They get all the advantages of being members without sharing their football revenue? Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. What's in it for us?
Love, Ima

PS Stupid.

I hate expansion! And I especially hate bringing in Notre Dame as a sorta member. They should be in or out.

Agreed. I hope they get their ass kicked in every game.

ND has a few years remaining on a football TV contract - I expect that is the reason for indy in football. Once that is over with I expect they will be full tourney members.

Given that the round robin bball ship sailed already - I am pleased with this addition.

I've been called a lot of things over the years, but this is a first for Grouchy Smurf. I kinda like it. B-)

You know what I liked about the ACC?

All of the schools were located in states that touched the Atlantic Ocean.

Until now. . .

Wait a minute! I made a mistake.

I forgot about Pitt. And Pennsylvania doesn't have an ocean, unless you count Atlantic City.

When ACC expansion was being considered before and the decision made to allow Pitt and Cuse, I thought ND was not being considered because it insisted on being independent in football. What changed????

So the ACC stands at 15 - that sounds like one 'open slot' to me. The remnants of the Big East that are possible: Rutgers, Louisville and (wait for it...) U Conn.

I could not possibley shower often enough to get the stink off me if UConn joined. :ymsick:

For the record, Calhoun retiring does not change my opinion of the UConvicts at all

Wait! With that logic, every state on the Mississippi has a gulf! Maybe a Gulf gas station, but not a gulf!

The little trivia blurb from my phone's ESPN app just informed me that Notre Dame is 6-35 all time against Duke & UNC....welcome fellow scholars.
