More trouble in Chapel Hill... you won't believe this!
Matt Kupec, top fundraiser, has resigned amid questions about inappropriate use of funds for personal travel. Matt was quite the QB back when he played in Kenan. An even bigger surprise is that the travel in question was with his girlfriend, Tyler Hansbrough's mother, also on the fundraising staff.

With the folks on the hill, it's gotten to the point that I will believe anything. They could come out and say that the cookie monster provided impermissable benefits to the cheerleading squad and I'd buy it. I'd also buy it when I'm told that the NCAA does not care yet again.Devil in the Blue Dress wrote:Matt Kupec, top fundraiser, has resigned amid questions about inappropriate use of funds for personal travel. Re: More trouble in Chapel Hill... you won't believe this!
I think the most surprising aspect of this story is how long it took for anyone to figure out that something funky was going on when they hired a basketball player's mom to be a fundraiser. For the record, I despised Matt Kupec back in the day, and those feelings haven't changed.
I suppose I have some conversation starters to use when I see my dentist (a huge UNC donor, double grad and parent) the next time.

I liked the part where Chancellor Thorp saw no problems with Tami Hansbrough flying to Tyler's games on the university's dollar because, as a fundraiser for the dental school, she might find donors there.
I agree with CB&B. The NCAA will find nothing amiss.

I snickered when I read this. But I'll say this, at least the former Mrs. Hansblabla is a babe! Her picture is in the print edition of the N&O.

With my jaundiced view of the NCAA, I feel it is as likely for NOTRE DAME to be punished in this fubar, than unc. After all, it was BEN Hansbrough that Mama went to visit on Sheep U's dime, and DA (that would be "DumbAss") Thorp can't say that the people at ND games would be likely to donate to Sheep U's dental school.

Tami Hansborough was on administraive leave since Monday, and resigned yesterday. (she had to, or get fired, just like Kupec did).
Now, since Tami and Kupec have alot of time on their hands, they have plenty of time to Travel together. But not on Unc's dime.

Interesting article, but this one is way more salacious....
http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/09/18/ ... rylink=cpy
Apparently little Holden was flying around with his friends Tami and Matt on something called Medical Air. Medical Air is supposed to fly specialty docs to rural and out-of-the-way areas of the state for patient care.
And I am sure there are TONS of sheep u donors in Montana, such that the happy couple would need a weekend there, and have to get a Medical Air flight back, since flights from Chicago to RDU are limited.
Where's the sarcasm font? And why are MY tax $$ supporting this bullshit?

From Kupec's assistant to Medical Air, "Flights are limited from Chicago to RDU."
Read more here: http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/09/18/ ... rylink=cpy
I just did a random Google search of flights from ORD and MDW to RDU and I found 45 daily flights, including 4 non-stops from Chicago to Raleigh-Durham. That is, on average, almost two flights every hour.
"Limited" must have a different definition over there.

Yes. It's commonly used just before ethics in a sentence .CathyCA wrote:From Kupec's assistant to Medical Air, "Flights are limited from Chicago to RDU."

Like Larry and I both told our respective children as they were growing up, there's not much safe/good that goes on after MN/1AM on the streets/highways/sidewalks.
