Congratulations to Austin Rivers, for being the 10th pick by the New Orleans Hornets (where Anthony Davis 1st pick was chosen). And to Miles Plumlee, for being selected in the 1st round, as the 26th pick by the Indiana Pacers. The Plumlees will be able to stay in their home state, and hopefully get to see Miles in future games.

5. Sacramento Kings: Kansas forward Thomas Robinson

Robinson arguably was the best player on the board after Davis, and he's a tremendous value pick here. He should pair with center DeMarcus Cousins to help the Kings dominate the boards. He's not an elite defender, but his rebounding prowess prevents teams from getting second chances. Robinson was last season's breakout college star as the Jayhawks reached the title game. He fits the Kings and should be ready to start immediately. Robinson went through tremendous personal tribulations, and he was in tears as he spoke to ESPN after being selected. Grade: A


Thomas' story should be made into a movie, like The Blind Side. This kid is a Winner through and through, and I hope he gets custody of his youn sister and raises her in a stable environment, away from the biological (former drug dealer) father.

Our newest first round draft picks! Austin went #10 to NO and Miles went #26 to Indiana. I've got to wonder if the folks in the Miami Heat war room said "Damn! Indiana just stole Plumlee from us!" when they took him?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm happier for Miles than for Austin. It's not that I have anything against Austin; it's just that Miles has been such a great ambassador for Duke for the past 4 season and seems like a class act. It's also nice to have another counterexample for the "Duke can't develop big men"/"Wojo is not a good big man coach" crowd. I didn't start hearing first round buzz about MP1 until very recently, so he must not have dribbled in his workouts.

Very happy for Miles. Fox Sports has the Pacers listed as "losers" for picking him. (So does SI) But I love that after bashing him, they then post a pic of Mason. Nice job, asshats. Looking forward to Miles proving lots of people wrong!
