Ok...I love being an optimist and I'm sure we'll win every game this year, but I was just looking at an early pre-season top 25 and it hit me how daunting our schedule actually is. Here's the schedule.
Sat, Sep 01 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL Durham, N.C.
Sat, Sep 08 Stanford Palo Alto, Calif.
Sat, Sep 15 N.C. CENTRAL Durham, N.C.
Sat, Sep 22 MEMPHIS Durham, N.C. TBA
Sat, Sep 29 Wake Forest * Winston-Salem, N.C. TBA
Sat, Oct 06 VIRGINIA * Durham, N.C. TBA
Sat, Oct 13 Virginia Tech * Blacksburg, Va. TBA
Sat, Oct 20 NORTH CAROLINA * Durham, N.C. TBA
Sat, Oct 27 Florida State * Tallahassee, Fla. TBA
Sat, Nov 03 CLEMSON * Durham, N.C. TBA
Sat, Nov 17 Georgia Tech * Atlanta, Ga. TBA
Sat, Nov 24 MIAMI * Durham, N.C. TBA
* Conference Games
Here's the teams that are on that pre-season top 25.
Stanford (14)
Clemson (16)
FSU (17)
Virginia Tech (19)
Georgia Tech (25)
Eek. That's crazy.

I would agree, but we knew this was coming. I think that's why I had so much hope for last year. Boston College is generally going to be a winnable game for Duke. Maryland and NC State are also winnable. Clemson...tough. Florida State...tough.
Really... we have to beat some good teams, but that's what you're suppose to do to be a bowl team.
beat the ones you're suppose to AND...
UNC
Virginia
Wake Forest
Your in...
or 1 big upset and 2 of the above. Doable...and I think we're good enough to do it.

I can see six wins on the schedule, but it means we have to beat everyone we are suppose to beat (FIU, NCCU, Memphis) plus win the toss-up games (Wake Forest, Virginia) and knock off a heavy favorite somewhere along the way. Coach Cutcliffe and the team deserve our support and our optimism.

And your presence in the stands will help this year.
