For now Dick Clark, so long.

Sad, but not shocking. He had not been well since his stroke. He was an Icon. Sympathy to his family and friends.

RIP Dick Clark! I loved his TV show, growing up, and of course always "Rocking New Year's Eve show." Thoughts are with his family and friends, and we were all fans of Dick Clark!

I give him a 99, just because nothing is perfect.

More rock'n roll learned from him and Cousin Brucie than I can remember.

Oh my. Dick Clark "happened" in my teen years. Every afternoon, we girls would be at one or anothers house to watch the show. RIP, Dick Clark. You will always be remember as long as I and my HS friends are still around.

As for Cousin Brucie, I met him in 1965, when I was 11. I was a camper at Camp Swago in Damascus, PA, and CB had gone there several years earlier. He came back each summer for a day during the summer, and I met him. I listen to him on XM channel 6 (60's on 6), and I've always wanted to call him and tell him "we met in 1965. Do you remember me?" A couple of months ago, he actually talked about a Camp Swago reunion on the air, but I didn't look into it.

Okay, the Mayans said 2012 would be the last year. No 2013.

Now, Dick Clark, the man who has helped usher in the New Year for most of our lives is taken from us. So he won't be around to usher in 2013. But wait; was he taken because there would be no NEED to usher in 2013?

I was a little young for Dick Clark's "American Bandstand" heyday, but remember him especially for one very sweet story.

My parents' friend Mary Alice had a son, Scottie, with Down's syndrome. Scottie loved, loved, loved, Dick Clark.

When Dick Clark came to King's Dominion, Mary Alice bought tickets as a surprise for Scottie. She told Dad, who called my Uncle CB, who moonlighted as a security officer at King's Dominion. Uncle CB got them backstage to meet Dick Clark, and he was gracious and very kind to Scottie, and spent a great deal of time with him. Every year after that, until Scottie passed away, Dick Clark sent him a handwritten birthday card and a gift.
