Shabazz goes west
And I'm very relieved. Here's my thoughts that I posted on the front page.
Shabazz Muhammad, Duke's #1 reruit, is off to UCLA. Some may be bummed, some may be ambivalent, some may be breathing a sigh of relief. However you feel, look at it this way...Muhammad would have been another one and done, making the third in three years. Great memories are not built from short visits but from long, lasting stays. Kyrie and Austin were fun to watch, but neither can ever call themselves "champion". Duke's Champions were built around teams filled with leadership and experience, and we will have both filling to the brim next season. GO DUKE!!!

I completely agree. Duke basketball is college basketball, not "farm league, wait until old enough for the NBA" basketball.CameronBornAndBred wrote:And I'm very relieved. Here's my thoughts that I posted on the front page.

Right. I'm relieved we aren't dealing with yet another one. They're just bad news all 'round. We want guys who want to go to Duke, not guys who just use us.

One and done players are the new reality of college basketball and I'm sure we will see some more at Duke in the future, but I am old, cantankerous and hardheaded to a fault so I completely agree with those who believe we should win or lose with four year players. I understand guys are going to depart early from time to time and have no problem with Gerald Henderson leaving after his junior season; however, I've had my fill of one and done players.

I agree with all of you. Kyrie and Austin appear to be stand-up guys, but I'll never be as fond of them as of, say, Nolan Smith, Kyle Singler, Brian Zoubek, Miles Plumlee, etc.

Rumors swirling about Tony Parker joining Shabazz at UCLA:
http://www.bruinsball.com/content/sourc ... -ucla-361/
I'll believe nothing is final with TP until he announces, signs the LOI and then laces up his sneakers and takes the court. I'm 99% sure he isn't coming to Duke and I'm really not upset about it. He appears out-of-shape and lazy to me. Hey TP, have fun sitting the bench behind Josh Smith.

He may well be on the bench behind the WhoWhatWhenWhy and Wear twins, too.Bob Green wrote:Rumors swirling about Tony Parker joining Shabazz at UCLA:

Heck, he might be in the best position of any of the Bruins' players if LDII has not improved his passing touch since his unc playing days .

Re: Shabazz goes west
I would have liked to have Parker; there is no way he's only in school for one year, despite what he wishes. I could see him lasting three years or more in fact. So even though he's squishy now, he'll be working with a training staff to convert some blubber....and I can think of an FSU and Miami player or two that has proven that as long as you are mobile, blubber ain't bad. (For both the mens and womens teams...must be something in the Florida water.)Bob Green wrote:Rumors swirling about Tony Parker joining Shabazz at UCLA:
