If anyone watched the special on Bob Hurley and St. Anthony's, tonight's performance by Tyshawn Taylor won't come as a surprise.

Re: Maui
Maui provides evidence that this team is improving, on every level.
Mason's interior defense is giving exactly the shot of what's needed for this team to have success. Add in Ryan's help under there and it's really a one-two punch. The team defense, versus the opponent's attempts at three-pointers has been very effective as well.
What's to work on and show improvement? Plenty, but it boils down to just a couple of things.
Defensively, the two bigs previously mentioned, could stand more help when subbed for. Miles and Josh have trouble avoiding fouls. Josh's offensive skills need a lot of refinement. (this will gain him more playing time) On the outside, the main problem I see, the guys are too willing to bite on ball and shot fakes.
Offensively, Austin is learning the dribble-drive. In games I saw of his at the high school level, that didn't seem to be his claim to fame. There, it looked to be his shooting prowess. Now he's becoming a complete scorer. He needs to be slightly more judicious about when to drive. That will keep him in better control. He also needs another driver to step up and join in.
Running out of power on the laptop now. I've said enough, other than I really like what I see from this group.

Re: Maui
This is another Duke team where all five players on the court are a threat to score the ball, which makes us a tough team to defend and an enjoyable team to watch. We went through several years where we were playing 4 on 5 or even 3 on 5 on the offensive end, but those days disappeared a season and a half ago. If Tyler Thornton can consistently make 3-pointers, watch out! I realize his second three was a lucky heave, but his first made three was a smooth "catch-and-shoot" basket. I don't expect Thornton to all of a sudden start jacking up 3-pointers, but it is nice to know he can knock 'em down when the opportunity presents itself.
