That sounds like I'll be listening to Bob Harris on the radio. Do any of ya'll know a radio station streaming Duke football games this year? WSFL is not and that is the station I have bookmarked.

With six minutes left in the 1st half, Wake Forest is up on FSU 9-7. The Demon Deacons have a 1st down in the Red Zone as I type. Does this mean FSU isn't as formidable as we thought? or, is WF a lot tougher than we thought?

Halftime score: Wake Forest 16, Florida State 14.

Wake Forest had an extra point attempt blocked and that is worrisome. Isn't it an unwritten rule of football, if you miss an extra point you lose the game? Seeing as FSU and Wake Forest are our next two opponents, I believe FSU @ Wake Forest game discussion is called for in this thread. Hey, I have to talk about something during Bye Week. =))

Final score: Wake Forest 35, Florida State 30.

Next week's game will feature two teams riding three game streaks. Duke has won three in a row, while Florida State has lost three in a row.

Wake's defense looked very effective today.
FSU is fast.

In some ways, Wake looked more formidable than FL State.

Duke does have a good emotional base for preparing for the FL State game. They've been increasingly successful as the season has progressed. We want to see improvement following each game and that's been happening of late. FL State will be under more pressure to perform than will Duke. Could be a fantastic upset.....

Compared to most game predictions in the past, doesn't that margin indicate higher expectations for Duke and maybe lower expectations for Fl State?

Running back Chris Thompson will be out for the Duke game (and assumptively a long time) since he broke his back against Wake. Damn, I hate injuries but that sounds way harsh.
Thompson is the team's second-leading rusher with 83 yards and one touchdown. Florida State's running game has struggled all season, and Thompson is one of the team's leaders and a talented back who led FSU in rushing last year with 845 yards

Here is an article with some injury updates:

http://www.heraldsun.com/view/full_stor ... in_article

Brian Moore returned to practice during the Bye Week. A decision has not been made regarding his availability for the FSU game. His work in practice will be escalated this week.

The odds in Vegas have grown to Duke being a 12.5 points underdog. I guess the gamblers still like FSU.

I think we started off as a 10.5 'dog. Odds are getting worse. I like that. Somehow, I have Ozzie's optoemism in me this week :ymdevil: . Sorry to read about Snead with his lingering ankle injury. I wanna hear about Scott, Cockrell, Butler and Williams, too. Hoping to get those guys back at or near 100%. f$u may be hungry and dangerous at this point but I hope we are hungrier and can step on them Saturday.

It's sounding like Desmond Scott is getting back to where he was before his injury, we'll need him against the 'Noles.
Coach David Cutcliffe said sophomore Juwan Thompson - the team's rushing leader with 56.4 yards per game - will start at running back, and Scott could see increased snaps in specific situations
"The best he's looked was (in Tuesday's practice)," Cutcliffe said at his news conference. "Braces have an affect on running backs. The best thing Desmond does is make you miss in the open field. He's a great cut-back player. He's so skilled catching the ball. I thought he had to strain against FIU to make his moves."

Daryl, Thanks for the text updates from WW yesterday. I watched the game on ESPN3 replay this morning and it was painful. Manuel had all the time in the world to throw the ball deep, while Renfree was being mauled. One thing I noticed is our receivers never caught the ball in stride and continued running. They caught the ball going to the ground. Our Yards after Catch yesterday had to be really low. Both our offensive and defensive line are going to have to play better next week.

We need Donovan Varner back healthy so hopefully his hamstring heals quickly.
