We used to help fraternity brothers celebrate things like birthdays or getting pinned or engaged to their girlfriend by carrying them (the brother, not the girlfriend ;) ) down to the Duke Gardens and throwing them into the small, very slimy, pond. When we learned of such an event, we'd start by yelling "the pond!" to gather a larger crowd around to help do the carrying.

Not to worry, the tradition still lived as of fall 2002, when I last did it.

Phi Kappa Psi, which is no longer at Duke, thanks to Nan and her anti-fraternity which hunt.

BTW, several of the ladies of the Crazietalk board were either Phi Psi little sisters, or dated Phi Psi's, or both!
