Not really intending to open this for too much discussion about the game yet, other than to note that it will be a 7PM kickoff. Nice to see us getting a night game on ESPNU later in the season. :happy-bouncyblue:

I'll go ahead and start next week's thread as I watched the end of the 1st half and the entire 2nd half as LA-Lafayette defeated FIU 36-31. FIU was limited by injuries to star wide receiver Hilton (#4) and their starting QB, but the back-up QB (#12) looked great and running back Rhodes (#9) had a strong game. Hilton has a strained hamstring, which is a slow healing injury. Of course, modern medicine borders on miraculous.

FIU's strengths are a tremendous amount of speed at the skill positions and strength along both the offensive and defensive line. Duke's big guys will have a tough test next week in the trenches.

The big weakness on FIU I see is their secondary. Given a second or two to throw the ball, Sean Renfree and our talented wide receivers should be able to carve the Golden Panthers' up for lots of yards. LA-Lafayette burnt FIU deep more than once.

I was impressed with our effort today and believe we can travel to Miami and win next week! We've evened the record at 2-2 so it is time to win the third game in a row! Go Duke!

***I absolutely LOVE ESPN3***

Here is an FIU article courtesy of the Miami Herald:

QB Wesley Carroll is expected to start and WR T.Y. Hilton's strained hamstring is improving. Duke's secondary will need to know where Hilton (#4) is at all times. Hopefully, we get off to another fast start so we can pressure FIU's offense to respond.

Anunike tore his ACL and his MCL and is out for the year. This will be his 3rd knee surgery. His career might be done. I feel very, very bad for this young man who has worked so hard making the change from TE to DE, suffering 2 knee injuries and surgeries in the process. #$%@ and *%&$.

like ESPN3...Would love it if the pix was a bit bigger...still, it's better than game trackers.

Yeah, gotta feel for Kenny. I really hope things get better for him regardless of the football picture.

Any word on Lee Butler or Desmond Scott? We'll probably have to wait until Thursday, but thought I'd ask...

ESPN3 has a Full Screen option so you can make the picture as big as your monitor screen. Run your mouse to the lower right corner of the video and click on the Full Screen Icon (four arrows pointing away from the center and toward the corners) to activate Full Screen mode. To exit Full Screen mode hit the Esc key on your keyboard.

Injury report:

CB Ross Cockrell (leg) – Probable
K Will Snyderwine (foot) – Probable
CB Johnny Williams (leg) – Probable

RB Desmond Scott (leg) – Questionable
RB Josh Snead (foot) – Questionable

QB Brandon Connette (upper body) – OUT
S Lee Butler (leg) – OUT
C Brian Moore (arm) – OUT

DE Kenny Anunike (leg) – OUT FOR SEASON
TE Jack Farrell (leg) – OUT FOR SEASON

I'm happy Ross Cockrell will most likely play as we need him to cover T.Y. Hilton (#4). With Lee Butler out, we will see our depth at safety pay off and we will see Jamison Crowder return both punts and kick-offs.

I wonder what Moore's timeline to return is. It seems it was assumed he'd be out for about 6 weeks, which is not too far off.

Laken is a special guy. Coach Cutcliffe told his story on National Signing Day when Laken was among those who had committed to Duke. The dedication required to spend the hours required to travel and from school in order to attend a rigorous technical high school in Chicago was very impressive. He aspires to become a doctor. We're so fortune that he decided Duke is the place to follow that dream!
