Movie re-makes that should NOT be made

On FB, Sue brought out the news that some dolts in Hollywood have decided to re-make "Dirty Dancing." :twitch:

Can you come up with a bad re-make idea (real or unreal) on a par with this?

I initially suggested having a re-make of "Ferris Bueller," starring Justin Bieber. :ymsick: :ymsick: :ymsick:

Any other ideas?

'Humpin'. No one can capture the look of love, quite like Skillet. :x What a tender love play!
:D

The Stooges? They could never properly replace Shemp...or Curly, for that matter. :twitch:

Dirty Dancing and Ferris Bueller are classics, which actress Jennifer Gray is in both movies. NO REMAKES of classics like, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Gone with The Wind, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Ghost, etc.

They are making a prequel to Wizard this year called "Oz, Great and Powerful". It tells the story of how the wizard came to Oz, and sounds interesting. Here's a list of classic (and not so classic) movies that I would not want to see remakes of, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone in Hollywood has tossed the idea out there.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
It's a Wonderful Life
2001: A Space Odyssey
Cool Hand Luke

Here's a list that I wouldn't mine seeing them try, understanding full well that they could screw it up, but also could get it right.

A Clockwork Orange
Lawrence of Arabia
The Maltese Falcon
Jaws (Would never be as scary, but at least the shark wouldn't look so cheesy)
High Noon

According to IMDb, in 1984 "2010," a sequel to 2001, came out, starring Roy Scheider, Helen Mirren, John Lithgow, AND Keir Dullea. It also included Mary Jo Deschanel, mother of Zooey Deschanel.

The anthropologist in me would want the whole 2001 monolith/early hominid sequence re-done... and would want it to stay as is. :Boo: :-BD 8-}

"Hard Day's Night" and "Saturday Night Fever" -- NEVER, EVER re-make these, please.

As much as I love "Westside Story," someone COULD do a really good re-make.

They should not remake "Bullit".
They should remake "French Connection".

Right, it was a sequel, not a remake. It pretty much sucked.

I can't imagine remakes ever done for the Rocky movies.

ROCKY I.2!

ROCKY II.2

ROCKY III.2

ROCKY IV.2

etc.

Casablanca.
Gone with the Wind
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane
Citizen Kane
It's a Wonderful Life

If was made in the 30s or 40s and is considered a classic...step away from the remake...just let it be.

"To Kill A Mockingbird" should never EVER be re-done.

But you know, I bet someone could do a good job. Nonetheless, I fear some dolty producer would have someone from FIGHT CLUB star in it, and they'd use plenty of CGI, and 3D. Oh yeah... and COLOR.

"To Kill A Mockingbird" is perfect as-is.

Oops hit send too soon. Guess I will pad the post-count. ;-)

I also fear that someone would ruin it and I just can't imagine that movie in color either!

For those that don't want to see a remake, a sequel, or a prequel of Blade Runner...tough patooties. For those that do (like me), wooohooo!
After revisiting his classic Alien with the upcoming 3D Fox film Prometheus, Ridley Scott is committing to direct and produce a film that advances his other seminal and groundbreaking science fiction film. Scott has signed on to direct and produce a new installment of Blade Runner. He’ll make the film with Alcon Entertainment, producing with Alcon partners Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove.

Haven't a bunch of people done sort of remakes/spinoffs/homages of Wonderful Life already?

Also, I don't think I'd want a remake of Princess Bride. There's just no way to get that right.

And here's something I don't understand... How is there backstory in Oz? I mean, isn't it the hallucinatory dreams of girl that got hit on the head during a tornado? Also, apparently they released a sequel back in 1985. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089908/ Musta missed that one.

And we mustn't forget The Wiz with Michael Jackson and Diana Ross.

I would not mind at all if they did a movie version of WICKED. :-BD

I thought this thread was "Movie re-makes that should NOT be made" not "Movies that should've never been made in the first place." :-)
