ACC media votes are in

Post by CameronBornAndBred » July 25th, 2011, 2:31 pm

Duke picked last. So shocking.

Oh well, we'll prove them wrong. They will always pick us last until we give them reason to vote otherwise.
ACC championship votes:

1. Florida State (50)
2. Virginia Tech (18)
3. Clemson (2)
4. Boston College (1)

Atlantic Division
1. Florida State (65)
2. Clemson (4)
3. NC State
4. Boston College (2)
5. Maryland
6. Wake Forest

Coastal Division
1. Virginia Tech (66)
2. Miami (4)
3. North Carolina
4. Georgia Tech (1)
5. Virginia
6. Duke

They didn't do their homework. We finished fifth last season ahead of Virginia who we've beaten three straight years. With the ongoing QB issue in Charlottesville, we should be projected to finish no worse than fifth. Personally, I think we will beat Georgia Tech in Durham this year and finish in fourth place with a 4-4 ACC record. GT lost a lot of talent off last year's squad and have had off season issues as well. We will have to win on the road to make it happen. The games at Boston College and at Virginia are games we need to win. Obviously, to beat BC and/or GT, the defense will have to prove they can stop a running attack.

I have given up expecting them too. I fully believe that the ballots are all premarked with Duke at the bottom. More motivation for the team. Anyways, a preseason guessing game has never stood in the postseason record books.

Cutcliffe says we aren't good enough.
“I’m excited about our guys. Our athleticism is better, our speed is better up front, are we good enough yet? I certainly wouldn’t go that far,” Cutcliffe admitted.
I think it's a mix of honest assessment and locker room motivation.

Am I crazy, or are we less than a month away from the first crazietalk tailgate and DUKE FOOTBALL!!!

I don't really think any attention should be paid to these preseason predictions. NC State and Maryland were picked to finish 5th and 6th and their division and ended up finishing 1st and 2nd.

I am very excited for this season as we all should be. We are going to have to win a couple of road games this year in order to make a bowl. Beating FIU and UVA on the road is necessary for Duke this year. We should be favored to win 4 of our first 7 games, and those we will have to win those 4 games in order to make a November run. GO DUKE!

I was in the customer lounge of my local car dealer's service area yesterday afternoon. The guy seated near me was wearing a Tennessee cap. I asked me if he followed Tennessee football or Tennessee football and basketball. "Football," was his answer. I said, "Oh, you know David Cutcliffe then." He said, "Yes." Another guy seated at a bit of a distance then chimed in unbidden....."They're both ranked at the bottom."

The Tennessee guy and I exchanged a few short comments about improvements and the Jerk called out, "They're both ranked at the bottom." Finally I said, "You know, the pre-season predictions are often inaccurate. We play the games to find out who's really going to win." The Tennessee guy was then summoned to get his car, so the exchange ended before I could ask the Jerk where his team was ranked and how many NCAA violations they have.

Conner Vernon and Will Snyderwine have been voted Preseason All ACC:

When the All ACC votes are cast at the end of the season, I expect Sean Renfree will be in the mix. This is his fourth year in the system and he should be fully healed (both mentally and physically) from the 2009 knee injury. With the tools he has at receiver and running back, and an improved offensive line, he has the potential to post obscene statistics. I expect Renfree is going to turn some heads in the media this season.

I'd absolutely love to see Renfree outperform Andrew Luck on Sept. 10. :ymapplause:  :ymapplause:

I'm kind of surprised that Renfree doesn't get any preseason love. My guess is people remember the outings he had after Alabama more so than the games he had in November.
