Well, the guy still living is getting new dentures courtesy of the hospital, so he's not getting the old one's back. It's the family of the deceased (Manis) who wanted the wrong dentures taken out of the coffin. Honestly, I don't think Mr. Manis noticed the difference...

My great aunt Lillian had two sets of dentures. She would pop in the replacement set when she cleaned the others. No one ever saw her without her teeth. She was a proud, beautiful woman.

When Aunt Lillian died, I talked with the funeral director about how beautiful she looked at her viewing. I mentioned her two sets of teeth. He smiled and told me that her spare pair of dentures were placed under the little pillow in her coffin.

I thought it was really nice that her nieces didn't have to dispose of her dentures. And she has a pair and a spare for all of her events in the afterlife.
