It was a strange, strange weekend.
First, thank you all. I did all the above with aplomb.
The entire weekend was spent in the wilderness of Patrick County VA.
Everything was going great. Then, Sunday afternoon.....
...8 of us went down to the creek and we lauched two boats, heading out onto the lake. I was the MF. In our vernacular, the boat driver. All boat drivers are MFers. The reason being, is because boat drivers tend to only set course for where the BOAT DRIVER decides to want to go. Ring any bells?
I was towing boat 2 with a rope, due to the fact that they had no motor, nor did they have any MFs on board.
On the returning turn, back toward the launch site, my niece aboard boat 2 yells out, "There's a dog over there on the bank! What's a dog doing alone out here on the lake?" Your capt was not paying attention to what was on or near the shore. He was too busy trying to safely navigate through the many logs, and other debris that had washed downstream and found itself in the path of travel.
Making a long story short...I now possess an old dog. HE is mixed between English and Irish Setter. He can't decide whether to bow to the Queen...or spit at her. I think there's a bit more Irish there, if explained only by his coloration. He's red, with a white face and a tiny little 'Poirot'-looking moustache below his nose. He likes to ride. The conveyance, matters not.
More later.
