Any boxing fans in the house?

I'm not sure where to post this so I'll just throw it up here: any boxing fans in the house? I'm headed over to my son's house (and his big screen TV) this afternoon for a cook-out and an evening of boxing. We will be tuned in to the Manny Pacquiao versus Shane Mosley fight including the under cards which features the return of Kelly Pavlik after his recent trip to the Betty Ford Center (Pavlik should've been an Irishman). The fights start at 6pm PDT. Anyway, my son's house will be packed full of Filipinos cheering on their national hero so it will be a raucous time for sure. Good food, good entertainment, lots of beer (I'm bringing a 12 pack of St. Pauli Girl and a 12 pack of Red Hook ESB) and the opportunity to spend quality time with my granddaughter and grandson has me excited.

Prediction: Pacquiao wins on a TKO in the 9th round.

Here is an opportunity for me to share some more Sailor vernacular with you guys: we use the term 7Ps, which means Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. I'll be sleeping on my son's coach tonight. No driving home until Sunday.

Bob

p.s. I'll have a case of Miller High Life in my trunk as reinforcements as some of my son's friends may show up empty handed.

It's been awhile since I've watched on pay per view. I used to watch all the time when boxing was on ABC Sports and ESPN. HBO also. Those were the days for me.

I was ruined many years ago, back when Jimmy Young lost on decision to Ali. Horrid call!

I will still pay attention to the Olympics.

I stopped watching boxing when Ali stopped winning fights.

I always liked Ali, but he did not win this one.

Didn't say he did. But as he faded from view, so did I.

And the night in 1979 when Ali lost to Michael Spinks is also the last time I drank bourbon...

Which was also the night the Airball chant was born. The night we shut out carolina 7 - 0 in the first half in Cameron. And won 47 - 40.
