Mrs. Caldwell passed away on Sunday, her 103rd. birthday.
Her husband was Herschel Caldwell, an assistant football coach at Duke for over 40 years. Coach Caldwell and Coach "Dumpy" Hagler came on to Duke ahead of Wallace Wade while he completed the last year of his contract at Alabama, a season which ended in a Rose Bowl appearance.
